iStabilizer Mount XL - Smartphone Tripod Adapter for Wide Phones

Updated June 20, 2016Overall good solution through needs improvements that you can do.Good:1. Adapts easily to standard thread tripod or selfie stick (1/4-20 thread)2. Smartphone can be quickly inserted into or removed from the adapter.3. Spring is strong enough for most applications.Bad:1. A smart phone falls out of the jaws easily because the hard plastic is slippery. See recommendation below..2. The rubber gripper used to open the jaws falls out easily and can be lost easily. See recommendation below..Recommendations:1. Bend the wire at the top down slightly so that it grips on to the smart phone more securely.2. Glue a small section of grip matting to the top of the plastic base. This can be bought at a home improvement store to line the bottom of a kitchen drawer. See included image.3. Gently squeeze the wire at the top together with pliers so that the wires pinch the rubber gripper that comes with the original product. This significantly improved the gripper problem. Over time the thin bottom of the rubber gripper will break free. When this happens then just push the remaining thick rubber gripper into the wire slot. See included image.Manufacturer recommendation: Use a more sticky plastic compound or add a grip surface to the product base.

I really like this product I like to use it with my joby tripod and took amazing pictures with it. The reason I gave it a five star rating is because the small rubber thing keeps coming off and I almost lost it countless times. I'm going to break it down into some positive and negative things I think about this product. If you are looking at this product and wondering if it fits your phone then it can fit a Samsung galaxy s4 comfortably in it with a small case and a iphone 4s through iphone 5s.Positive:-Some of the positive things about this product include it holds your smartphone securely in its place when positioned correctly.-it looks great when it sits on a small or large tripod.-it's small enough to fit in your pocket and very easy to travel with and very light weight.-the opening and closing is spring loaded so it's not that hard to place your phone in and take out of.-the build is made of plastic and metal for a lightweight and sturdy experience.Negative:-Some negative things that I found out about is that the small rubber thing at the top occasionally pops off countless times-it won't fit all phones or devices (see dimensions in the product info)

Great product. I've had the iStabilizer for about 10 months. I actually bought the monopod and mini tripod for my iPhone 5. They were great for that. I recently purchased the iPhone 6 and needed a larger mount. This fits the camera perfect but you need to be a little careful if you have a rounded case on your phone. The phone is fairly narrow and does not have a lot of edge to it so it could slip out of the tripod mount. One design flaw with this is that the little rubber stopper at the top tends to slip out an can get lost easily. I've lost one and had to have it replaced. What I did was grabbed a needle and thread and stitched through the rubber at the top and wrapped it around a few times and then stitched back through the rubber. It holds the rubber to the metal and it won't come off.

I bought this to use with my Nokia Lumia Icon. Overall, I really like the product. Works well with oversized phones like mine. It fits well on the tripod. The only issue I have is with the top rubber handle. It slides out of it's groove much too easily so you have to be careful when pulling at it.If you want to tripod mount your oversized smartphone for video recording or for photography (bracketing, time lapse, long exposures, etc.), it's very much worth it.

Pros-Great build quality (except for the one minor thing noted below)-Fits my Nexus 5 without having to take it out of its case.-Feels like it keeps the phone pretty snug.-Does exactly what it says on the tin.Cons-The small rubber piece at the top is very easy to lose, which would make the tripod adapter useless. A small design revision would fix this

I got this mount to go with my iStabilizer base. I had read that the mount that came with the base wouldn't fit my GS3, and was pleased to find that this mount fits my GS3 even when using my otterbox. It works very well, you just need to be careful not to lose the rubber portion at the top of the mount, as that keeps the phone from slipping out.

I purchased this mount to replace the smaller mount that came with the iStabilizer car mount (standard size) my phone was just at the maximum size listed. This mount holds great and has some extra room if I ever want to add a case to my phone. With the universal tripod size attachment point, I can also use this mount with any tripod for steady camera shots (Joby guerrilla stand). The rubberized grips do not mar the phone in any way and it's a simple task to attach and remove the phone. The group holds firmly even when traveling over rough gravel roads. I have no fear of it ever dropping my phone.

Stupid tab gets lost very easily. and thats the only thing on the spring side that the phone grips too. Once I lost it I made my own tab with an old phone case I had laying around never lost that one. You may be able to do a rubber coating on the tabbed part as well you will lose the pull tab which I haven't used in forever. Just use the edge of your phone to push the springy part down.

The overall footprint is small. Very easy to insert the phone in the holder and also easy to take out. Just push the top part of the holder with the phone and remove/insert.It also has a screw thread at the bottom and can be mounted on a tripod. I bought a Manfrotto PIXI MiNI tripod (a little expensive but built quality and ease of use is great) to use with this holder. Excellent combination.I would recommend it any one particularly if you have a large phone ( i have a Galaxy Note 3).

Does the job with my Samsung S3 even with the Otter case. Strong enough to hold.

The adaptor fits on my stand without any problem. The grip of the adaptor is quite strong, so making it a little fiddly to get the phone in. However, once the phone is there then it is very secure.

The rubber on the top can easily be removed. It end up losing on my travel. The mount itself cannot give security on my smartphone. I drop my phone 3 or 4 times. I am very disappointed with the product. Now, for me to use it I need elastic band to hold my phone with it. I will not recommend buying it.
