Kite Shield Mosquito Repellent

Some of us are not simply bug attractors. I am nothing short of a mosquito homing beacon. They fly from miles around just to feast on my blood. If I'm sitting in a group, no one else will be bitten. If you are like this too, you know what I'm talking about.I ordered some kite shield to try while on vacation in a beach town thick with blood-suckers. Went for an evening walk with my parents and husband. Was bitten no fewer than 15 times. If you are a normal person, this may well work for you. If you are a mosquito smorgasbord the way I am, stick with the DEET (although that barely makes a dent for me either). Or maybe move somewhere Nordic.I give three stars for two reasons: 1) it did seem to work reasonably well for my husband, who isn't quite the bug buffet that I am and 2) I really enjoy the smell! I may continue to wear this just to smell like mint and vanilla, even though it does nothing to deter the pests.

Whether Kite Shield works depends on what types of mosquitos you have, but when it DOES work it works great. Last night I was driven inside by mosquitoes. Tonight I sat in the same place with Kite Shield and no mosquitoes came near me. Here is what you need to know:1. It smells like lemon-vanilla; I like it.2. You don't have to spray all your skin -- just enough to create a small cloud or halo ("shield?") around you. Susceptible mosquitoes that enter the shield wander off disoriented.3. Re-apply within 1.5 to 4 hours, depending on what type of mosquitoes you are up against.4. I will try spraying it on my clothes/hat/pants in the future, or maybe just around my porch5. My mosquitoes live near the Pacific coast north of San Francisco; your mosquitoes may differ.

Taking stars away because sadly this product was not enough to keep them off (mosquitoes LOVE me). The smell is a bit strong when you first put it on, and either I go nose blind or it dissipates quickly. I would compare the smell to bazooka bubblegum which I find pleasant which kept a few stars. If mosquitoes don't seek your blood it might work for you.

Seems to work pretty well. It has a strong smell but I think it's a very nice smell. No greasy feel on your skin like the deet ones.

I took this with me to Belize, and it worked better than anyone else's bug spray. Everyone was asking to use my Kite spray and where I got it! It has a pleasant scent also. I will definitely be ordering more!

The only non-DEET product I have had success with. Keeps mosquitos away from my bug attracting wife and keeps ticks off of the tick-magnet, me. Have not found a single tick on me since I started using Kite. Lemongrass fragrance is strong, vanilla part much weaker.

Was expecting MUCH better results, was not effective on "ankle biters" or mosquitos any more than most products. Hate to say that I had to go back to OFF with DEET to be out and about during those infective times, mostly before and during sunset and again around 11 pm. Smell was intense but if the product worked well would have been very welcome knowing I had it on.

Seemed like the mosquitoes in Nicaragua got used to the spray and weren't repelled after awhile and the spray attracted flies!
