I first purchased a different (cheaper) tool that advertised a 1/8 inch diameter, but it was actually closer to 1/4 inch, if not more. Closer to the diameter of the water line itself, so it definitely did not work. This water line was 1/8, and was easily fed through the water line, and did the trick — the ice blockage was removed and ice making restored! Some general tips: 1. I had a tough time knowing which line was the water dispensing line, and which was the ice maker line. I was able to confirm this by disconnecting one and then closing the door and try dispensing water. If it stopped working, it was the other line. 2. Progress was slow. It took me several tubefulls of water to finally completely clear the blockage, so be patient. You can be sure you’re making progress by checking how much further you’re able to reinsert the line after each refill. You can maybe even feel progress by putting inward force on the line as you eject the hot water to feel if it’s moving and making progress. 3. Once the blockage was clear, I couldn’t insert the line any further, so I wasn’t sure whether I had cleared the blockage or if my line wasn’t long enough. I removed the ice bin so I could see whether the (hot) water was making it in, and it was. So the line was barely long enough to clear the blockage. Hopefully that’s a standard line length, but I suppose there’s a chance your line is longer. If so, you may need to try continuing to eject water, hoping it clears it, or find a longer line. In the end, it did the job, saving me a (likely) expensive service call. Plus I’ll probably have the problem recur (based on what I’m reading about my particular fridge), so I’m glad I have a way to clear it out going forward. $20 well spent! Though it does seem like they could reduce the cost for what you’re buying — a plastic syringe and a couple plastic water lines — but still worth it to me. So maybe the price is fine after all. :)

I had my doubts but easy 5 minutes and fixed! I used hot water from instant hot water tap.

Worked great on Midea MRS26D7AST- Only change is users reported using the tube from the dispenser end. On this model I believe there’s a sharp enough bend where the tube didn’t get to the end, running two or three times from this end did nothing but dump water right down. Removed the tube and fed it from the supply line that connects under the freezer door and it worked much better.

Our repair man said we had to defrost the fridge and freezer to thaw the water line -ugh! We started to research other solutions and finally settle on this. Much to our surprise, after three simple treatments, the water flowed. Thos saved us oh so much time and aggravation.

This worked exactly as explained. Took less than 5 minutes to unclog the line! Would recommend trying before calling a tech in.
