Cosplay!
I needed a base for a cosplay I was doing. This involved removing all spikes and the filters and adding needed modifications. Tl;dr bullet points (more detail below):-Not adequate for air filtration. Remove the filters and replace if possible/desired.-Flexible half-face portion is an elastomer, if you decide to repaint use an a acrylic.-Hard plastic is flimsy, like you'd expect from cheap halloween costumes, but not overly flexible, and is durable enough for normal use.-Can be completely disassembled if desired (lens caps, lenses (x3), filtration assembles, straps, air outlet)-Paint can come off easily with a fingernail in places, will not rub off with normal use. Some more detailed notes below:DO NOT USE THIS FOR AIR FILTRATION!!! They were installed "backwards" but that didn't much matter. Upon disassembly I discovered they were filled with beads (I am guessing the "carbon"). There were two cellulose "filters" either side. This compositon will do nothing/next to nothing as far as actual filtration goes. These same filters are available on Alibaba for about 0.60 cents. Big, big warning sign.I tested the material of the flexible, rubber-like portion of the mask with the FTIR in our lab. Based on a quick search of our library it is a 75% match for tygon, but that could mean pvc/vinyl, or some other elastomer. If you want to repaint this portion like I do, you will need to use an acrylic or other flexible paint. Be aware that you will need to clean the surface REALLY WELL for the paint to bond, and a sealer would not go amiss. The quality of the mask and glasses are what you would expect from any halloween store. Light plastic (but durable), awkward straps, large threads for screw on caps, etc. All things that can be built upon. The benefit of this is it does actually make it easier to work on it.The thing I was pleased with most of all was the ability to completely disassemble all components of the mask. The lenses are secured with a cap that can be unscrewed (there are three circular lenses inside, one is clear and the others can be removed so that nighttime visability is not hindered), the filters and straps can all be removed. This came in handy as I broke the half-face portion down completely for cleaning and paint removal, the material it is made out of is typically "oily" because it is made with an oil or plastisizer that leeches out over time (with heat in particular). This is normal. The lenses seemed like plastic but I was wary of them as I don't want some freak accident launching tiny bits of glass/plastic into my eyes so be aware of this. The paint job is adequate if you want something you can just wear in the dark that looks cool. It will wear off over time, I was able to scratch it off with a nail. That said it can be easily repainted for not much money/time/effort.I will say I will have to modify it for comfort as the nose portion hurts the bridge of my nose, this will fit smaller faces more comfortably. Males might experience some discomfort as well but I suggest padding with foam where needed. In all it is a great base to jump off of without having to do much work. I will post pictures when the mask has been finished.

Cool!! But didn’t last long!
With in the first 20 mins of wearing the spikes had come undone and fell out and lost them instantly. So maybe if you make sure they are all tight before wearing!

Meh
The goggles are so dark my son couldn’t see out of them while trick or treating. The mask is very hard to breathe in, so it ended up in his bag all night and the goggles on the top of his head. It fitted the look he was going for, he just couldn’t wear any of it as pictured. Oh - one of the spikes on the mask came off and we had to glue it.

Painted M3
This just a painted M3 respirator. There is some kind of chemical in the paint, my son had hives all over his face where the mask touched him. Wouldnt recommend.
