Gets in those hard to reach places.
Amazing little tool. I usually use a heavy duty petrol strimmer, which can be a little OTT for most domestic gardens. I bought this with the idea of using it for smaller areas and around paving. For this it is absolutely spot on. The rotating head allows you to trim borders, around slabs and into the corners where a larger machine would be too unwieldy. I already use the Makita LXT 18v battery platform so buying batteries and charger was unnecessary. With a 3ah battery the machine will run for well over an hour. The spool is relatively easy to reload and the bump head advance works reasonably well. No real drawbacks to this machine although it will struggle with denser areas. All in all I'd give it 9/10.

Great battery strimmer
Excellent battery powered strimmer which is lightweight and has a comfortable adjustable shoulder strap if you want to use it. The cord advance works well and the head tilt adjustment provides all the angles I need.

Great Product from Makita
It slowly started to dawn on me as I get older that the petrol strimmer was getting heavier every year and all the Faff with cleaning spark plug and mixing petrol and oil was becoming tedious. I recently bought a Makita Drill and Driver kit with 5AH Battery's from the LXT range. This strimmer does all the strimming I need to do and Battery indicators ( Batts not Supplied with this )still read 50-75% and Its nice and Light weight also. Even the Missus has had a go.

Great to use around plants and for trimming/edging grass paths etc
I use this on my allotment to keep things tidy, I use it for light work where close control is required, I also have a petrol trimmer but it is too powerful for this sort of work and sends clouds of dust everywhere. I get around 20/25mins use from a 4ah battery. It is very portable and easy to use, the tilting head feature is good as it makes edging paths easy. Comes with a harness and is ready for use once assembled as trimming line has already been loaded, it comes with some spare line too. Also its quiet too so won't upset neighbours if you like working early mornings. I would not recommend for clearing large areas of brush/brambles but for a handy go to its great,
