LewittLCT-140-AIR Stereo Matched Pair XLR Microphone

This is a great deal for a great mic. Lewitt is relatively new and to be honest I had never heard of them. After recommitting myself to home studio recording during the lockdown I quickly realized that my MXL 550/551 condenser (starter) set I got years ago is just really bad. Seeing that a used set of 550/551 MXL's online could barley fetch a quarter of their original price confirmed what I suspected about these mics. They're not that good! I was really surprised by the quality of the Lewitt as it caught my ear when I was sampling mics in Audio Test Kitchen which is a site that does condenser mic sound comparisons. You can choose up to five mics and listen back and hear how some recordings would sound on various instruments on different song examples that ATK has already recorded. Anyway of the five mics the Lewitt LCT 440 Large Diaphragm was matched up against four other significantly expensive mics. I was surprised at how this mic under 300 was more than holding its own against mics that were three to four times more expensive. Anyway later on when I was on youtube I saw a video by professional producer Warren Huart (who's channel I subscribe to) and he was raving about Lewiit air 140 mics. He did a demo mic'ing up an acoustic and a drum set and I thought they sounded great. He rarely does any kind of demoing of gear on his page but he was ecstatic about this brand and said after stumbling upon them it's all he uses in his studio. Between that demo and his approval I was sold! Sounds great on my acoustic guitar and even decent on my voice but I ordered the 440 for that. These mics are on point and super affordable...

The sound quality is superb! Great features. An EQ switch boosting high frequencies is especially useful. Another mostly overlooked pro is that it is so lightweight, which make s sure that your mic stays where you place it on the stand, and the whole stand with the mic is significantly more stable, especially if you have to extend the stand/boom. With heavier mics, there is a higher risk of the whole stand to tip over unless you use extra weights at the base.Mic placement seems to affect the sound more than other mics, which can be considered both good and tricky: 1. its good because it allows for more experimentation with different sounds; and 2. its tricky because you have to be more careful with it if you want to get the same sound on different takes.I use it for practically anything that requires clarity and crisp high end.

These are great mics despite the inexpensive cost. Super versatile and quiet. I don't know how many more times the money you'd have to spend to get better results.

I use this on acoustic guitars. For the money it is a great sounding mic.

I've tried recording acoustic guitar with several microphones, both small and large condenser. Nothing in this price range even came close to the quality recording I get from this thing.I've also tried using in this in combination with the LCT 440 Pure to do stereo guitar; this mic pointing at the neck, and the 440 on the other side of the sound hole. Really nice.

These are excellent little mics

Very light nice sounding mic specifically for acoustic recording for me. The brighter setting sparkles with presence not brittle highs and the flat is natural for more bluesy earthy sounds. I’m going to try this mic on a hurdy gurdy in a month.

I used this in my Taylor 210. Got a fantastic sound with the Air Boost on and the HPF off!!! Totally worth more than the price tag!!!
