Can an adjustable mattress be used with this?

We purchased this bed and my son used it for a week and it broke under the mattress. It’s flimsy and not made well. The seller was less than helpful and did not offer any solutions to repair it. They wanted to send the same flimsy parts that wouldn’t hold the queen mattress let alone people. My husband and I had to basically restructure the entire base that holds the mattress. It was a huge pain in the rear.

Why can't I use box springs to make the bed taller?

You CAN use a box spring, it's just not necessary with a platform. I have a Sleep Number bed and it is plenty tall without a box spring. However, it is thicker than most regular mattresses.
