The box is built with heavy gauge .080 with two tension-adjusting latches and two continuous waterproof gaskets. These keep the box secured during the roughest ride. We've done away with any rivets - which have a tendency to leak over time - and replaced them with a screw/bolt set-up with rubber washers for a more secure watertight seal. These keep the box secured during even the roughest ride. Review: great product at killer price with exceptional service - I will be posting a video review soon of these products, but can tell you one thing.....the customer service is rock solid, and im sure will stand behind any problems if I ever have them. The nice thing is, is that Ive seen and heard of no problems yet from people using them. The mountainbuzz forums are solid, and I watched the youtube beatings of the boxes numerous times. VERY amusing and interesting to show that they are still intact and even useable after the video. My friend has raved about his frontierplay box for many trips, and has been pinned in tight wet situations with a dry outcome for his essential items within the box. Durable, dry, killer workmanship from a military grade trailer manufacturer. The boxes are solid if thats what youre truly looking for. They are made of .080 gauge material, and have an improved gasket system over the old rivet idea. Super solid handles with rubber make carrying a breeze while never being too hot to manuever. There is also some kind of a distribution warehousing business that accompanies the frontierplay business that can keep inventory costs ect lower to pass to the consumer. In essence, these business synergies along with minimal advertising and no middleman keep the costs lower than anything relative in workmanship. Check out the story, its pretty cool. read the reviews...they are all good from reputable sources. And contact the owner Darren if have questions. He is super professional, knowledgeable in the field, and im sure can back any item that comes from him personally like the boxes. Hes a stand up guy and industry professional I can tell from dealing with already. Review: Nice boxes at any price! - These are great quality boxes at any price. I own and have used boxes by a variety of builders including Down River Equipment, Cambridge Welding, and others. I am familiar with many more. These boxes sit right up there with the best of them and are better than most. These boxes genuinely have two separate seals that water would have to work its way through in order to get your stuff wet. The first seal is on the flat horizontal surface of the box sandwiched between the box and the lip of the box lid. The next seal is on the lip of the box and sandwiched between the box lid itself. No water is getting in here. The quality of the aluminum appears to be top notch and is .08 inches thick. There are slightly thicker boxes made by some companies, but this is a very standard thickness for almost all manufacturers. It is not a cop-out by any means and is plenty thick for most applications for which these boxes are sized. Every single piece of hardware on these boxes is stainless steel, including the handles. The handles even have a rubber grip on them that increases the diameter for carrying comfort, keeps them from getting hot in direct sun, and keeps handles quieter while on the water (great for fishermen). On top of the stainless components, every hole has a rubber gasket and a screw/bolt instead of rivets like most manufacturers. This is good for me because I can actually repair and maintain a gasket and a bolt, but I do not have a riveter handy. I can even make those repairs on the water if need be. I could completely repair this box with stuff from Lowes or Home Depot rather than engaging the services of a machine shop. The boxes hinges are more than adequate for the job (again, stainless). The lid has dual lanyards that keep the lid open at just over 90 degreesโฆ enough that it doesnโt fall on your hands while youโre reaching in, and enough that it probably wonโt interfere with whatever you have behind your box. The lanyards are stainless wire coated in plastic, so they will last forever and not get your stuff inside rusty. The latches are oversized and easy to use with one hand. Not huge, just right for the job. The welds on the box are quite nice. At this price I expected worse and thought I might have to sand them down a little or de-bur some sharp aluminum parts, but there was nothing to doโฆit was all very well done. Details were taken care of. I am super impressed with these boxes and will be buying more soon to finish another project. In case youโre wondering, the large decals are removable with a hairdryer. These boxes appear to be shipped from Idaho and living in the mountain west myself, these arrived the day after I ordered them. Great service and great product!

The last box I will ever cram my gear into....
So I bought these for putting in my 14' raft frame. I am making my own frame so I went ahead and bought the biggest size they have available (38"). As I have no experience with these I was concerned that lots of brands sell them for like $450 a piece and these were $500 for two! I felt like there must be something considerably lower quality about them, but after doing a lot of research it really seemed like they would take whatever beating I could lay down. They are made in China. It seems like Chinese welders will just do it cheaper, because there is really no lack of quality here. Aluminum welders spend so much time building boats and truck racks they think anybody buying aluminum stuff will pay its weight in gold. Not me! It was these boxes or a big ol cargo net for my raft. But getting back to quality, these are all I would want to ask for! Hardware is solid. All stainless screws and hinges. Handles on the side are spring loaded... Dunno why but its sweet. These have a double seal, which you can see in the pictures. The lid is made in such a way that it pressed down on a flat foam tape on the box as well as a rubber liner placed on the upward edge of the box. That may be confusing but it all adds up to less water getting in with you goodies. Honestly I would not expect it to stay waterproof if it is submerged, but I dunno, maybe it will. Either way, I dont plan on flipping my boat so its a non issue for me. I am really glad Frontier Play posted these on Amazon. They are cheaper and Frontier Play's website is pretty lousy. Frontier Play people, if you are reading this, try Square Space or something... It 2016 come on... Anyways, Thank you to Frontier Play for providing a great product at a reasonable price. Cant wait to take this thing out and abuse it on my Bachelor part rafting trip on the John Day in June.

This is a great dry box I really enjoy the size and the welds seem to be of decent quality. The outside seal is kind of weak as i sit on my dry box to row my raft and the outside seal has smushed to the point that it doesn't do its job anymore but the inside seal is still holding strong. The box is pretty strong and doesn't dent when you stand on top of it. It's a 5 STAR box but they need to change the outside seal to something stronger. As I've only sat on it for 5 day trips. For the price you will not find a better deal!!!!

Fantastic Value
FrontierPlay Aluminum Waterproof Utility Storage Dry Adventure Box Container with a Double Seal (36"L x 15"W x 18"H) We purchased three dry boxes and an NRS raft frame from Darren at Frontier Play. We have been renting dry boxes for kayak raft support for many years. Since weโve rented many different kinds of dry boxes, we had a lot compare. We used our new Frontier Play dry boxes recently on weeklong trip on the Snake River. There was plenty of opportunity for the dry boxes to get drenched, and they stayed completely dry. Over the course of the week, they got banged around a lot without incident. The boxes are very sturdy and well made. They are lighter than any other box weโve used, and I like the rubber grips on the handles also. I think the different construction methods Frontier Play uses (see the first review for a good description) are an upgrade from other brands. As an experiment, we emptied one of the boxes, put some heavy rocks in it for weight, and kept it submerged in the river all night. There was not a drop of water in the box when we opened it the next morning. Since we are primarily kayakers and not rafters, I spent a lot of time on the phone (four or five different calls) with Darren picking his brain about various rafting subjects, and his other products. He was extremely patient and helpful. I would pay more for these dry boxes, so they are a great value.

nice but not insulated
I guess I was hoping it would be more insulated like an ice chest. Not so much the manufacturers fault but itโs built nice but itโs just a thin aluminum box with weather stripping around it with some latches. Pretty expensive for what it is.

Great Cockpit Dry Box!
I bought the Captain's Dry Box for my Aire 156D raft and it performed very well. It is so nice to have this box in my cockpit, where it was handy for so many items that are always coming into or out of a dry box. Access is easy with large cam closures, and the seal was amazing. Even with splashing buckets of water over the dry box with the cams completely undone there wasn't a drop of moisture inside, due to the second internal seal, which fits snug agains the lid. I am going to buy FrontierPlay's Kitchen Dry Box next to complete my setup. Thanks for great service, Darren, and your prompt and courteous replies to my emails of product inquiry.

Unbeatable for the price
I have ran rivers for more than 35 years and have always spent a significant amount of money on gear. I bought this dry box a couple of months ago to try out its quality. Now that I've had three multi-day trips with it, I can say that I've never had a better box for the price. I think it is unbeatable on value. I prefer the small latches that Partner Steel uses only based on size, but everything about the build, quality and functionality have been great on this box. I also bought the Frontier Play personal dry box on a recommendation from a friend. I love having it so easily accessible next to my oar stand. Great products.
