Please read reviews before purchasing
I have placed four orders for shea butter, all supplied by halal. one yellow and the others ivory and everytime I was sent totally different shea butter. So beware that if you order once the next time will most likely be different in consistency and smell. All the shea butters I ordered on amazon came from The body butter store.I posted pictures of what I received and if shea butter is listed as "filtered" it is not unrefined and filtering removes many of the vitamins naturally found in unrefined shea butter. My jar was also cracked upon arrival, I paid $18. There was no safety seal on the container. I have since obtained pure unrefined shea butter from a fair trade co-op in ghana. I have to say there is no comparison! The "real" unrefined shea is beautiful ivory color a bit solid but not hard and has a nutty smokey aroma. It also melts quickly into skin and is not greasy like this shea butter. The shea butter from halaleverday is very greasy when it melts in your hand like an oil was added to it. The shea from halaleverday made my young baby break out in a head to toe rash, the real stuff did not do that.Make your own decision but do a little research before deciding where to purchase shea butter.PLEASE READ, I KNOW IT'S LONG BUT I LEARNED A LOT AFTER RECEIVING SHEA BUTTER THAT IS NOT TESTEDMy first was yellow it came in chunks on a plastic container, this one was very smokey and stained my clothes. My second was this 32 oz ivory shea butter this was the best one, solid, ivory, and mild scent. Melted nice into skin. My third I ordered the ivory creamy in two 16 oz containers and I was sent yellow, which was very grainy and had a strong smokey smell, amazon resolved quickly. The fourth and last order was this 32 oz ivory shea butter, I ordered on the 4 th and received on the 10 th. It looked melted, not as smooth as the last time and very smokey smelling. The Shea Institute has a great fact sheet all about what real shea butter is and the importance of testing, I learned that the government nor any other agency requires shea butter to be tested for quality and safety prior to selling. It is simply good business to do so and it is voluntary. This is the only way to certify a grade for the shea butter. So, if the shea butter is advertised as "grade A" it should display the seal of the American Shea Butter Institute. If it states it is grade A but does not carry the shield of the American Shea Butter Institute it is not actually graded and that butter is considered Lotto Grade Shea butter. This means you do not know what you have, it may be good, or it maybe your worst nightmare. Laboratory testing will include a safety screen, shelf life determination, and size of bioactive friction. Untested shea butter undesirables include, products of rancidity, mold, yeast, bacteria, fungus, coliform bacteria, lead, mercury, and other undesirables. ALL OF THIS INFORMATION COMES DIRECTLY FROM THE AMERICAN SHEA INSTITUTE...SHEAINSTITUTE.COM AND YOU CAN GOOGLE THEIR FAQ SHEET AND READ IT THERE FOR YOURSELFLong story short I won't be ordering my shea butter again on amazon! I will order thru coastal scents from now on!

Wonderful Product
This wonderful product is actual African Shea butter. For years I have been buying what was labeled in stores as Shea butter and it was yellow in color. Recently I went to YouTube to find out the difference between the two. There are a few clips of the African women actually making the butter from the Shea nut and in each case the finished product is ivory in color. Another clip showed and African woman explaining the difference. The ivory colored cream is real Shea butter. The yellow is from a different nut and is African butter. Both are good. The Shea butter (ivory) is richer. It takes a very small amount to moisturize your skin. It feels a bit gritty when you take if from the container but melts almost immediately into your skin, leaving a pretty, healthy glow to your skin. Remember, a very small amount is needed. Too much will be greasy. Your skin will feel soft and supple. I tried it on my hair and it is soft and manageable. It has a slightly smoky smell so if you use it in your hair, use it sparingly and you may prefer to scent the cream with vanilla or some other fragrant oil. The yellow is good but not as rich in emollients, takes longer to melt into the skin and does not last as long. I also did not like it in my hair unless I mixed it with something else to thin it out. I am a 57 year old Black woman with very dry skin and hair that I wear natural, if that information helps. Recommend this product very highly.

Love the product, Should label as fragile if they won’t replace.
I’ve been ordering this products since last year and I do love it compared to others I’ve tried so I’ve stuck with it. Was a bit upset to see I can’t return/replace this item though, my last package came broken, breaking the seal and upset that I need to buy a new one instead of replacing. This is not for personal use but for my business and customers so using product with a broken seal is not ok. I will continue to buy as this is the first issue in the last 7 orders and I assume it was an issue with travel but they should label the package as fragile to avoid such issues.

Another Fabulous Product!!!
I received my pure Shea Butter yesterday afternoon and it is absolutely luscious! It is the true shea butter, so rest assured it is not one of those items that claim to be authentic. It is a gorgeous ivory color with the earthy/smoky aroma and the ease of getting it out of the container that assures it's authenticity. All you need to do is slide your finger across the product to remove it for use, there is no need to scrape it or use a lot of pressure to remove it from it's container. This shea butter melted into my skin and even as I write this review approximately 15 hours later, my hands and arms are silky smooth. I only used it on my arms and hands to see if I would be allergic to it and I am fine, so now I will use on my face and body. It has a lighter "oily" feel to it than the African Butter that I reviewed BUT I will still use that as well, I just need to see which is better for my psoriasis for each season. All in all, I would give this product an A+ for authenticity and moisturizing factors and its timely arrival! Enjoy it!

Does what it claims
I bought this 2 weeks ago, and was excited to try it. I love this much more than the yellow butter. It is smooth, creamy and has a light cocoa butter scent (which I am fond of). I slather it on my face and use it to seal moisture into my hair. A little goes a long way and you only need a pea size amount. The ivory takes a little longer to be absorbed by the skin, and I appreciate that in the colder climate. My skin has a healthy glow to it. I had a light mark near my lip that is slowly disappearing. It has also greatly diminished the bags under my eyes. My forehead wrinkles are not as deep anymore. I look forward to trying this in a hair recipe. I love it straight from the container though, without any added ingredients. I will continue to purchase from this seller. This is 100% ivory shea butter.
