Best bang for the buck!
Choosing a new motherboard can be one tough decision! Especially if you've always been a 2nd hand used parts ebay craigslist deal finder. My "old" Q9550 and i7-860 scrap builds are really showing it's struggle. It was finally time for something NEW and would hold up for years to come. I've never been an Asrock fan I don't know why just meh. I was really wanting another gigabyte board since I such a great experience with my first socket 775 board. but comparing price per features and layout the AsRock won. booting on the very first initial test boot with a Intel Xeon 2618L-V3 bought off ebay for $260 and all 8 slots populated with 2x kits of G.SKILL Ripjaws 4 Series 16GB (4 x 4GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3200 (PC4 25600) Model F4-3200C16Q-16GRK booted and posted into bios with in seconds of first life. my friends $400 MSI board with cosiar platinum ram took 20 minutes finagling with ram code errors different combinations and then when we were booting with one stick after while looking over the book about a minute later it posted. shut it down added another stick took a minute to load. we then realized each stick of ram we ad it has to recount it. This motherboard instantly recognized all $32GB with no delay and lag on the screen no sweat!Pros-built in WiFi A/C + bluetooth-2x M.2 slots-PCIE slot spacing! no wasted slots! that one 1x slot that is typically covered by your dual slot GPU is actually above the 1st 16x slot. With 2 dual slot cards there is a 1x slot that you can use in between the cards. A nice air gap if you're going to run SLI with out water cooling-Nice sleek I/O cover or "spoiler" this is the only motherboard under like $350 that has one-Built in debugging error code display-Supports Intel Xeon-Nice Support website!, good luck with Zotac-Bios took maybe 3 clicks to update over the internet from the first boot-BOOTED WITH ALL 8 RAM SLOTS POPULATED ON THE VERY FIRST TOUCH OF LIFE . NO FINAGLING SWITCHING DIFFERENT SLOTS WITH DIFFERENT CONFIGURATIONS! with prior builds and friends builds.... Cons-no built in reset/power buttons, however there is a cmos clear button on the I/0 panel-USB!! only 3x3.0 + 2x3.1 type A&C , 3x2.0 would it be system bus lane limitation related?-debugger code display doesn't show CPU temp during normal use like my friend's MSI board. or if it's in the bios settings i haven't found it yet, or if there isn't a setting, maybe a bios update can make it work in the future? kind of useless when you have such a superior that doesn't give you errors.these cons may have nothing to do with the board but i get it, those are more premium features for more of a premium price, but still i love this board for the price

Very good board. Most bang for your buck. Only 1 USB 3.0 (20 pin) slot though!
At first impressions, this board isn't much. The first thing you need to know is that this board only has 1 USB 3.0 slot. It does have several USB ports built-in, and a USB-C port as well.It does have 3 PCIE 1x lanes you can utilize to add more USB 3 slots that you may want to utilize. My case (Corsair Graphite 760t) comes with a front-side IO like many cases do. Included are 2 USB 3.0 ports, so of course that slot on the Taichi is already taken. I have 3 bay peripherals I would like to install, but lack the necessary slots to pull it off.The board has great features in the BIOS. Here's a few I love.Boot Order is Drag & Drop.RAM model gets detected and XMP profile selection is 1 click from the main screen.Overclocking for intel K series processors is 2 clicks.Easy BIOS reset switch in the back.Sick black and white theme.Reinforced PCIE slots.Fan monitoring and configuration is fairly easy. Some things I don't like.A single red LED. I selected this board because it's black and white to match the theme of my build. (Many Face God, the cool people will get it). It does turn off after POST, so it's not a hate.LED readout is also red, but again, it disappears after POST so no worries really.Only one USB 3.0 slot. Some peripherals stop responding on reboot. This might be more of a driver issue, but this only happens with these devices on this board. I use the same devices on two other machines with the same exact hardware and software except for the mobo and do not have this problem.Lacks an on-board start button. You MUST hook up a momentary switch to operate this board.Because all of those issues are very basic first-world problems, they don't reduce the star count. Nothing critical or damaging happens while using this board.I have managed to overclock an i5960x to 4.4 Ghz (didn't get a golden chip :( ) and I'm running Corsair Dominator 64gb of DDR4 @ 3200Mhz and a Samsung 960 Pro M2 SSD. I'm very satisfied with this board overall and definitely find it worth the money. All issues can be worked around.

Board works great with my 6850k
Board works great with my 6850k. Worked out of the box, no BIOS update needed (as expected). Overclocking is fairly simple. I wish they had positioned the CMOS battery elsewhere. My GPU covers it perfectly, so I can only use the CMOS jumper to clear CMOS unless I want to pull the GPU, which is obviously not too big of a deal but unscrewing the backplate/IO screws just to get to the battery seems unnecessary. Also I've got a minor gripe with them not having an actual clear CMOS button. It's commonplace now, and this is a "high end" board. It's also an overclocking board. I mean if you are buying extreme edition chips, you should expect the user to be overclocking, even if they are mostly productivity/workstation chips. And clearing CMOS is commonplace when you are tweaking overclocks and can't get the board to POST.Otherwise I love the board. ASRock used to be considered a cheap brand, but nowadays they are a value brand. They put out solid boards at a great price. This board is aesthetic with a nice, user friendly BIOS. The reinforced PCIe slots hold my Strix 1080ti up with very minor sag. I've seen this GPU sag like crazy on other boards. Glad I don't need to do any makeshift supports for my GPU.Also I'm glad to still find brand new x99 boards (with out of box broadwell-E support) with Prime shipping. A lot of manufacturers discontinued these boards fairly quickly after x299 came out.

Great motherboard - simple
Great motherboard - simple, no flashy RGB like on the most today's boards...bios/uefi is very impressive, mobo is stable, running Haswell-E overclocked to 4,5 like a rock. Not to mention stunning look (white& black). Good location of pump and fan headers. 5 stars for Asrock.
