Excellent Value But Would Be Better With More Complete Explanation of Installation and Use
PROS: 1) Very cool looking, appearance OK to leave attached. 2) No extra driver download needed to work with Microsoft Windows 10. 3) Will work on a USB 3.0 port with sufficient electrical power. 4) Recognized as Floppy Disk Drive (FDD) in devices. 5) Seats well and good solid feel to the insert and eject floppy button 6) Excellent price point. CONS: 1) User may skip instructions and plug into USB Hub without sufficient power. 2) Appears device will need to be ejected then removed from USB port and plugged back in for correct recognition of next floppy disk to be read or written after the first. 3) When recognized, the drive makes a continual chattering noise until a floppy is inserted. [Note: this could be from insufficient power or could be normal operation as the drive tries to determine whether standard (720 KB) or HD (1.44 MB) floppy is inserted. CONCLUSION: Excellent value for the price, and I was able to copy all my old FDD files over to the computer HD without losing any data. I was also able to reformat and re-use the FDs. Very portable. Good addition to USB devices. However, I would have appreciated more information about the drive chattering, which I thought was from a faulty driver.

No complaints
I stumbled across a box of my old floppy disks from the '90s and early 2000s. These were mainly from my college days, but also my early teaching career. There were about 200 of the suckers. Curious to know what I would find, I purchased this external drive to see if there was anything left on them. So far, I've gone through less than 30 of the disks. About half of them won't open, but I doubt that's the fault of the external drive -- I think it has more to do with the deterioration of the disks themselves; let's face it, it wasn't the most endurable medium for storing info. When a disk does open, I usually hit "select all," "copy," and then I try to "paste" the files into a folder on my hard drive. Oftentimes, it doesn't work -- unless I select the files one at a time and copy and paste them that way. It's laborious, but it usually does the trick. Although my venture has been hit and miss, I don't regret the purchase, for it has enabled me to 1) take a walk down memory lane, for whatever that's worth, and 2) realize that I really don't miss the floppy disk era from a technological standpoint.

Works OK but you have to disconnect it to change the file listing
I gave this a "3" overall because of the inconvenience of having to disconnect it every time I insert a different disk in order to get it to update the file list showing in Explorer to files on that current disk. That said, it will do what I need it to do which is a 1-time cruise down "memory lane" in search of decades-old files and photos I want to preserve and don't already have saved elsewhere. BTW - I'm using an inexpensive USB-A extension cable to make 100+ connects/disconnects so I don't wear-out the USB jack on my computer! If this unit lasts to the end of my stack of disks yet to be checked then I will say "well done" as I retire it.

Not for use with important things
Works most of the time but is highly tempermental and goes on strike and you have to shake it or lightly tap it sometimes to get it to work.

Fantastic Product and Sooo Affordable
Excellent Product! For a while I had trouble finding this type of product because the costs were too high due to it being "obsolete".I have shoe boxes full of 3.5" discs with thousands of family photos of my kids growing up. I thought they were going to stay in those boxes forever. I had nothing to lose to try this Floppy Drive because it is Soooo affordable making worth the small risk.Very easy plug and play item - My laptop immediately picked it up as just another drive! This item has made it possible for me to retrieve 20 year old pictures and simply drag and drop them into my hard drive and external hard drive (for even more protected storage). And By the way - This item was delivered super fast...I love this thing!I'm going to buy a second one just in case these become "obsolete"!

It worked better when I inserted the back corner of the disk ...
I bought this to get information off my old 3.5" disks. It was advertised to work with Windows 10, but it would not function with the exception of telling me that something had been installed. It was very frustrating. I was thinking of sending it back. I then brought out my older Windows 7 laptop and plugged the floppy drive in. When I did, it immediately starting loading the drivers and then it worked as it should have. The unit is very clean looking and is fairly quiet when it is running. The only other problem I had was that it is somewhat difficult to slide the disk in as the door on the unit does not want to open. It worked better when I inserted the back corner of the disk into the center of the opening first and then the whole disk slid in. It ejected very nicely. Shipping was very fast, arriving before the anticipated delivery date.

The Chic, Clean, and Slim Floppy Disk Portable Drive Left me Very Impressed!
I appreciate the small size and the usb connector. It's hard to believe, but I came across an old floppy disk - yes, a FLOPPY Disk. For those of you who haven't a clue what these are, floppy disks were how PC users stored/saved/transferred information from their computer to a mobile storage device. Only a Floppy Disk Drive can access the data on a floppy disk. You can imagine how excited I was to find exactly what I needed and at a super affordable price - without compromising the quality of the product. Thank you CAZ3688. I am confident in your quick fulfillment and high quality product. I will keep you as first choice when shopping again soon.

Perfect (See review for macOS specific concerns)
Works just fine. Reads HDD (1.4 MB) discs from my Mac SE so I can import files to my Mac.macOS (X) doesn't let you write to floppies but you can read them. It's not a problem with this drive, macOS just won't do it.Note: It will not read disks sold as "Double Sided" by Apple back in the 1980s (they're labeled as such). High Density Disks (normal 1.4MB disks) will read just fine, Apple just forged their own path at one point with "Double Sided" disks, it's unlikely you'll ever see one. It doesn't matter how you format them, it's just not going to work with this drive, I haven't found one that will work with them (again, probably a macOS issue since the discs are like 30 years old)
