Amazon baffle me by asking for reviewers to comment on “sheerness” and “thickness” of products. Wtf. Have developers forgotten how to speak plain old English?Sheerness of a stair gate extension? Like the sheerness of a cliff face? Well it’s not very sheer in that case. But she sheer oddness of Amazon to ask such a question is full of sheerness if nothing else.As for the the gate extension, simple easy fit. We fitted at the top of the stairs and fixing against bannisters wasn’t easy as there’s a bit of wiggle room and too much tension risks snapping the wooden verticals on the bannister which don’t look particularly tough to begin with.The extension has a relatively wide end bit. Our cat just walks through it and a toddler could get half their body through the gap if they went feet first. Fortunately our toddler is a bit bigger. Poorly thought through extension in hindsight.

Absolutely spot on. We lost some parts from our other extender for our BabyDan gate, which was used for when a family dog stayed over. It didn't really fit well as we didn't have right size, but we made do. Now we have a 10 month old baby on the crawl, we needed a new extender that fitted right! This is superb as you get different length metal rods to attach the extenders to, meaning you have more scope to use in different places, and two extenders that hold the poles, meaning you can add both our one depending on the space. We've used ours facing away from each other (see difference in my photo to stock photo) in order to allow our baby to stay safe from the steep step in our kitchen, but provide a gap big enough for our house rabbit to get through! Caution should be used for using like this though to ensure your baby can't put their head through the gap that is bigger than what's on the gate. Our baby can't, and won't be left alone in this area anyway.

Was great for extending my pressure fit gate to my wide new build house stairs! I didn't want to drill holes in my nice new wall for a temporary solution, this extension kit worked great, was the best price out there and does the job perfectly, looks as though the gate has always been that width.

I have two extensions either side of my gate all from the same company, unfortunately one of the bolts to secure the gate to the wall has a hole in it therefore the thread will not allow the bolt to extend or retract.

I won’t lie, the instructions from babydan are hard to follow (and I build ikea furniture all the time!) once I read the instructions 23 times, had two breakdowns and watched 3 YouTube videos in Dutch it was a little easier to put together. It is sturdy and does the job so overall happy with it.
