You can for the 1x mirror to get an overall picture. However, the 10X is best used to see one area of your face at a time to see with full clarity.

Q: Will the mirror hold positions at different angles

Hi Donna. Yes the mirror stays open at various angles and will also open all the way to be completely flat. You can have either side on the bottom when it is open on a flat surface so you can use either mirror that way. Please let us know if you have any other questions. We are happy to help.

Q: Is there a trick to opening this? I can't seem to open it.

Using both thumb nails to release the compact works for me. It just needs a slight catch on the seem to open. A lot of ladies use an old fashion nail file too.

Q: How long does it take for a full recharge? How long does that charge last?

This compact does not have a light, there is no charging involved however it's a great compact I keep one in my handbag perfect for lipstick
