We use this to hold cut offs and food scraps during the day so we can take them out to feed the chickens. It has a nice overall appearance and does a great job of keeping fruit flies away. The chickens like that they get more scraps because of it. :-)It would work well for compost items as well.

Really nice looking unit, functioning perfectly, a lot better than the plastic one the garbage company gave us no odor easy to transport the organic matter to the compost heap!

Looks just like the photo. I used biodegradable bags in it, but not really necessary as it washes easily. Highly recommended!!!
