Arris Touchstone Telephony VOIP BROADBAND Modem TM402P

I bought this eMTA hoping that it would work on Comcast since the TM602G was a little too expensive, turned out to be a mistake. Comcast would be able to detect it (in MA) but for some reason the eMTA would remain offline even with the correct CMAC, MTA-MAC, and S/N number in the Comcast network. I know this device is listed on Comcast's list of supported devices but unless you feel the cost of this and the $30 from the Comcast guy you're going to have to call then go ahead and buy it. Buying the TM602G and seeing if that works, if it does I'll post it in the comments of this review to the bottom right.

This modem works great for me. More impressive is that when I recieved the first one it was not functioning totally and the vendor got a replacement out very quickly with a return label. Comcast had minor issues setting up their end to get it fully functional but this is a supported modem for them. They did not give me details of their fix. I hope they documented it ;). It has been working flawlessly since.

Dependable on a first one that I have is still running flawlessly after 10 years. The only thing that would make it nicer is if it had an off and on button instead of a reset button. Turning it off at night would keep nuisance calls from occurring late night/early morning. I got tired of unplugging the line cord at the rear, so I bought a "1-LINE On/Off Switch for Telephone, Fax, DSL... from Grandpa and Granny Company for under @$14.00 to switch the calls at night/early morning.

This modem was sent to me by Mtnmantp (whoever that is) with the serial number removed which made it totally useless according to the Comcast repair person I engaged to install it. Unfortunately I was away during the period when it was returnable, but they were totally unhelpful when I returned and got in touch with them. The essential, however, is Mtnmantp sold me a USELESS PRODUCT.

This modem worked perfectly, but I wanted to warn customers in Pennsylvania that it is illegal to buy this modem as Comcast has exclusive rights in this state. Pennsylvania customers are forced to lease this modem from Comcast and cannot purchase it either from Comcast or other vendors. The vendor I bought this from, MGI Warehouse, did not inform me of this and I ended up having to return it to them and therefore losing money due to shipping costs. Amazon also did not inform me of this.So before purchasing this item please call Comcast and make sure it is okay in your state to buy this from another vendor.

The product might work just fine but not if Comcast refused to properly activate the modeum. When you buy a used modeum it comes imbeddded with the previous owners phone # (triple play) Comcast with usually not change that phone number so it is useless to you. It can be done if the tech chooses to do so. It did work just fine as a friend had the process go smoothly. In my case they just want me to go to Best Buy and buy a new modeum for $119.00. It was a very frustrating ang unsuccesful experience.

This product did not work so I had to dispose of it and purchase a different modem. If you have Comcast do not purchase this item as it will not work and you will be out your money like I was.

I bought this so I wouldn't have to pay comcast each month to rent their internet motem. Be aware though if you ever run into any trouble and need comcast to come out and service it they will charge you $50 becuase it is not their equipment.
