Honda Genuine 15400-RTA-003 Oil (Mahle Tennex) Filter

I don’t know for sure if this is a genuine Honda filter, or a counterfeit. All I know is in the middle of an oil change I pre-filled this new filter with fresh oil in preparation to attach it to the engine, and I tried to apply some clean oil to the gasket with my finger. The rubber gasket just separated from the filter and could not be re-seated. It would not lock back into the groove of the top of the filter housing and I sure was not going to put any trust in it that it would somehow magically seat correctly if I put it on the engine. In 30+ years of doing my own oil changes I’ve never seen that happen before with a brand new filter. This filter sure doesn’t seem to be up to Honda-quality and I have strong doubts about whether it is actually a genuine Honda filter - or a lousy counterfeit one.

Genuine Honda oil filter 15400-PLM-A02 arrived. An acceptable equivalent but not the RTA filter that was offered and I was looking for

Bought six of these. Identified on the shell as made in USA. Then cut them open which confirmed they are made by Fram -- not the genuine OE part from Mahle Tennex.

Not sure what to think of this item. Filter not sealed nor did it arrive in a typical oil filter box. Was loose in the Amazon shipping box. Made in USA by Honda of America. Has a sticker that says it's a 15400-RTA-003.

Got a similar, but different part. Just an explanation in advance would be nice. I know different companies have different part numbers, but the description appeared to be a better part than what I received.
