Perfect for my hard to shop for military guy!
I find that some men in my life, mostly the brilliant or quiet ones, are hard to shop for. My husband of 19 years is one of those kinds of men. He is in the military, and as mentioned, brilliant. My big strong army guy doesn't ask for much. Everything seems to make him happy, enough. One thing I know for sure, he likes tools. He is forever saying the right tool for the job makes all the difference. So as you might imagine I have gotten him many tools. He has many pockets in his military uniform, and he uses them! So when I saw this Tactical Pen, I knew it would be something he would like. It has more than one function and will hold up to a hard work and not explode all over his costly uniform. My husband is the type of guy who always has a pen and paper on him of some kind. He gets thoughts that must be written down as paper remember better than people. He loves this pen! It comes with two pen refills too that he is keeping in his car in the glove box for when he inevitably needs them. It writes smooth and fits his lifestyle. Very pleased with this purchase. If you know someone hard to shop for, get them this.

well made but not super practical
For me, a tactical pen implies two things. As far as a tactical, self-defense implement in concerned, this tool gets 4 out of 5 stars from me. When fully assembled or in any configuration, the tool is sturdy and solid enough for doing real damage when striking. However, when it is fully assembled the striking tips are rather blunt, one being a flatish metal tip and the other being the stylus tip. The stylus is soft but has solidity below it. The stylus can be removed and the pen cap unscrewed and placed on the butt end of the device. The pen tip is the best striking surface obviously but the other tips for the various configurations are pretty good too.As far as a pen, this one comes with two spare ink cartridges (3 total) and the quality is good. It writes very well, easily, smoothly and feels comfortable in my hand. As a pen it still only gets 4 stars since it is not very easy to access. You have to unscrew the cap and then either screw it on to the back of the pen or manage not to lose it. It's fine if you're going to leave it sitting on your desk and not carry it around, but then again, isn't the point of a tactical pen to keep it with you on your person? Realistically, the design should have less parts coming off it and then pen should open with a screw rotation, not a removable cap. This would prevent excessive parts from floating around, increase the ease of use and also provide a better striking surface even when the pen is closed/retracted. I'm not sure how necessary the stylus is either. Maybe some people use them but I don't know if the average person keeping a tactical pen would be using one.The utitity tools are kind of nice. There is a bottle opener, a flat head screw driver, some kind of an edge that could be a poor cutting blade and then some kind of ridged surface that looks like either a file or ineffective saw. Of all these I feel that the most useful is the flathead screwdriver. Having this feature is pretty nice. It's not as easy to use as a regular screwdriver or leatherman, but it doesn't currently overcomplicate the design and could be helpful in an emergency. As far as the tools that nobody really knows what they are, I feel that it's better to not do something at all as opposed to doing it poorly.I understand that this is a critical review. Don't get me wrong though, I'm giving it 4 stars, obviously I still like the item. It is very solid and writes well, I just also see a lot of room for improvement.Thank you, Saharaa Sailor for a pretty good product.

Great tactical pen
I carry this pen everywhere! It's functional and purposeful. I like that the stylus covers the glass breaker because as a professional...we aren't supposed to be tactical. This is a good way to be that and still appeal to those who may get their feelings hurt by the sight of a tool. The pen cartridge is junk, but I quickly replaced it with one that writes smooth and more consistently on different paper surfaces. Those things are cheap and can be found just about everywhere.

Pen is well built and has great features. I travel a lot on the airplane and thus far I had no issues with TSA. The rubber electronic pad tip covers the strike tip well during TSA covers and nobody questioned me yet. The small built-in cutting tool is handy enough opening packages when needed. Last but not least, their customer service is great. I responded to their email with an issue that is more like "user error" issue and they made it right. Since then I've ordered another one of these.

Customizable Super Tack Pens
The pen with light is a little too long.Without is perfect size!!Very strong!!Would prefer a "Slide Action" like Cross gel ink pen when you want to access & use the pen instead of unscrewing the pen which takes too long.No need for soft electronic pen point!!! Takes up too much length. I like the harder angle Electronic point on the shorter pen might work better and save length!!!I gave these pens 5 Stars because they are really good, we'll built strong pens. My little feature complaints doesn't change the functioning. By ordering both pens I was able to customize my pen.I prefer COMPACT & Light

Gets through airport security and is fine, but could be better
The pen has made it through security at many airports in US and Asia. I would have likes something that functions better - when set up as a pen, there is no cap and you can't put all the parts together (so you're using a small little piece as a pen. I thought the pieces would screw together so that parts not in use were hidden in the main housing.

A near-perfect multi-tool pen.
Original: The pen part writes but no very smoothly. It feels sturdy, strong and correspondingly heavy. The blade though is dull and I haven't tried to open a bottle cap yet to see if the blade portion it snaps off ...Update: One month and a half after purchase it turns out that the pen writes as expected from a pen. The weight doesn't bother me. I actually like feeling it that sturdy. The multi-tool part does still seem a bit thin as sensitive and that dullness can be sharpened sufficiently for opening boxes. The company did contact me via email after my initial posting of the review. They do appear to care about their products. I'd buy it again especially for gifting purposes.
