A thin shell with an adjustable cradle. The biggest problem I ran into: I have a big melon... and this hat isn't big enough. The cradle can be adjusted to accommodate my cranial girth, but the shell ends up directly against the back of my head. Outside of that, an okay piece of gear for the price. But, I did end up ditching it because of the extremely-limited protection.
