pretty damn good boots
I have only had the boots for two weeks bit already have about 50-55 miles on them. They are very comfortable (a little more break in is required, but I have unusually shaped feet). No blisters but one hotspot. I went through shallow creeks and mud with my feet remaining dry. I like the looks and have had a few compliments. The generous toe box is great and overall the boots are rugged enough and protected my feet from lots of larger rocks hidden on the trail that were covered bt bear grass. The only reason I scored these a four instead of a five is because while stepping on a wet stepping stone in a stream in my yard I slipped wearing these boots. I've stepped on that same stone countless times wearing my old boots or sneakers and never slipped. I went back and "tested" to see if Patagonia boots would grip. I found them to be not as grippy on this wet rock, and it's flat, then ither shoes.Overall I'm verh happy with them. Now I have to see how long they last to determine if they justify the cost. I got between 1,500 and 1,800 miles with my leather HiTecs. The only reason I switched is because I find the toe box too narrow in those.***** Okay**** Upon further review .... I've had these boots for three months now and have about 300 miles on them and would like to share some new-found discoveries. I feel they are true to size and roomy for my toes. Unfortunatley, walking through 4-5 inches of snow for a short 2 mile hike, my socks became wet.... so they are NOT waterproof. My biggest disappointment is that the insole slips back after just a few hundred yards of walking. This leaves the insole bunched behind my heels and my toes dangling over the front edge. This is completely bothersome! I'm not at all happy about paying $140 for a brand name boot and then having to go buy some adhesive to secure the insoles. I've paid half they $$$ for better performing boots.
