Mattifying Acne Moisturizer

This is an excellent lightweight moisturizer, especially for oily skin. It has a gel-like texture that spreads easily, absorbs quickly, and gives a nice matte finish that really helps control oil throughout the day. It also works beautifully under makeup, doesn’t irritate my eyes, and is fragrance-free. The only thing I’d mention is that, because it contains 0.5% salicylic acid, it may not be the best choice if your skin is already feeling dry or if you’re using other acne treatments, as it can be a little too much in that situation. However, on my combination/oily, acne-prone skin with rosacea, it performs really well, especially in warm and humid weather.

4th Update years later: I still use this moisturizer. Some toners tend to feel sticky but I found that the CeraVe toner (my doctor recommended this brand as eczema safe and natural) works well with this moisturizer without feeling heavy, sticky, and doesn't make me flare up! 3rd update: I realized I can't use other moisturizers, Ive gotten too used to this product. I've tried using other products of moisturizers and they felt HEAVY and sticky. This is VERY light weight which I appreciate. That is all☺️ 7 month update: I tend to sweat profusely especially in the summer time around my scalp and forehead. I waited to update to see how to use this best. While using this product i found that using a smaller amount was best. If you tend to sweat a lot like me, use toner then apply a pea - pea and a 1/2 size amount of moisturizer. I still tend to sweat till it runs into my eyes, but using less moisturizer prevented the product from running into my eye while sweating. I use this before putting on my makeup and it doesn't feel caked. I have oily skin prone to break outs and wanted to start using a cream after washing my face due to feeling dry afterwords. I dont have a beauty routine, rarely use makeup, nor informed on beauty trends etc but I wanted to start taking better care of my appearance lately. I compared different pricing for (oily skin/acne control) face moisturizers both online and my local Walgreens and Walmart. Note: the cream I was looking for had to be safe for sensitive skin as I suffer from eczema and remembered Cetaphil was one of the brands my doctor said was more natural and safer. I've been using this for about 2 weeks now. Result: it doesn't burn and no signs of inflammation. It doesn't smell great but it helps A LOT with not feeling dry from washing. It does not mattify my skin as it states and my oilyness is about the same throughout my regular work days. But it did do something when I saw myself in my review mirror when the sun was on my face. I noticed my face shined all over where I placed this cream. I just learned of the glass face look beauty trend and it looks slightly similar to that effect from the use of this cream on my face. I've had compliments on my skin from clients/family which is nice to hear. I usually wash my face with a acne face wash for oily skin, use a toner and a brightening eye serum from my local Ross store, and this cream to "seal" it all in. I admit I tend to touch my face out of habit which causes a pimple to come out. I will be editing my review in the summer as I tend to sweat profusely from my scalp/face and will note if this cream if bothersome or not. Overall it helps with dryness and it helps my skin look nice and shiny (vibrant?) in the sun so I'm happy with the product!

I’ve tried a few matte moisturizer on the market in preparation for summer skincare. I have combination skin and live in dry climate, combined with tretinoin use my face can be dry but still produce shine. It gets worse in summer. My goal is to find a moisturizer that doesn’t dry me out further but still controls the shine and I think I have achieved my goal with this amazing moisturizer. This particular moisturizer feels very moisturizing and gentle, does not irritate my skin, plays well with my daily 0.05% tretinoin cream and my twice daily 15% azelaic acid gel. It is fragrance free. It dries semi matte, not powdery matte but more of a natural matte which I love. My skin doesn’t get tight after it dries, which is what bothered me with most other previous matte moisturizers I tried. It goes under my semi matte sunscreen beautifully without pilling. With the help of this moisturizer, my skin stays the same natural matte finish the whole day whereas my sunscreen was only able to maintain about 2 hours max of matte finish alone. I hope cetaphil never stops selling this amazing moisturizer, I already purchased a back up and a back up for my back up!

Wanted to try this as an alternative to the CeraVe PM moisturizer. This product has the consistency of a very lightweight lotion similar to the CeraVe PM moisturizer, but is actually even more lightweight, has a matte finish as advertised, and absorbs into the skin quickly upon application, so this should be great for those with really oily skin who are looking for as lightweight of a moisturizer as possible. I've noticed an improvement with hyperpigmentation and acne inflammation from the first couple weeks of using this product, which is nice. Ironically it seems in my search for a lightweight moisturizer I might have gone a bit too far, as this product really doesn't feel all that hydrating for my combination skin despite being a moisturizer. Skin still feels a tad on the tight and dry side after using this and that's while using more of this than I would the CeraVe PM lotion per application. I'll also say to use caution if you plan to use this as an evening moisturizer in conjunction with a topical retinoid, as I experienced some mild irritation when wearing this as a buffer underneath adapalene, so if you have particularly sensitive skin maybe pick one or the other between this or a retinoid. I think this product probably works best either as a moisturizer you apply in the morning underneath sunscreen, or in a simple cleanser-moisturizer evening routine that doesn't include any other serums or treatments. Not a bad product by any means, just doesn't fit neatly into my current routine.

I’ve exclusively used this lotion on my face for about two years now. I wouldn’t say it’s mattifying for long, but it does leave skin matte for about two hours, at least for me. The reason I love it though is that when I get extremely dry skin around my eyes during the winter, this moisturizes without burning. It also seems to help improve my acne (when I have spots), or at the very least, does not make it worse. A small amount goes a long way, and the price is fair. If it had SPF, it would be the holy grail daily facial moisturizer

Over the past 2 years my face has gotten so dry. Everyone told me that CeraVe was the best but I saw no difference. It only made my face greasy. I came on Amazon looking for something else because what I had wasn't working and I came across this. Let me tell you this stuff works! It makes my face so soft and it was within a week. It's nice that it also helps with acne because I've been getting adult acne all the sudden too which is annoying but I can't help to have extra stuff to help with that either. Not only does this go on quick, smooth and easy, this also does not leave my face greasy at all. This is my go-to moisturizer now for my face for sure. It's not really heavy either like the CeraVe was. It doesn't really have a scent to me. And you're not rubbing forever to get it worked onto your skin like I had to do with this CeraVe. I love, love, LOVE it!!! Thank you Cetaphil!

absolutely dries matte, but it doesn’t feel dry at all, it’s like wearing nothing and my sensitive skin appreciates it very much, 100% to the daily use products

I love this product the mist feels nice and I’ve noticed less and less pimples on my face it’s a dupe to the skin smart antimicrobial facial cleanser

Bought two for a discount, struggling to finish even 1 tube as it makes my skin oilier. This was confirmed after I switched over to a different AM moisturizer. Perhaps it might work better for other people. But it is not mattifying at all, that's for sure.

It helps my pimple to dry faster and it just pluck out automatically 😊 Im using this in morning and my evening routine consist of tretinoin and moisturizer.
