worked great for a couple months.
I was really excited with how well this product worked when I first got it. It transmits clearly, is very easy to use, and has an extra usb port that can be used to charge other things. After two months I noticed that wires were starting to become visible and I had to position my phone carefully to transmit music. That worked for a while, but then the device stopped charging my phone and i spent more time trying to get it to work than actually listening to music. Unfortunately I have had to retire it and am now looking for a replacement.

Buy this now! It's an amazing transmitter!
Best radio transmitter I have found! When I use this transmitter there is no static whatsoever (even if I select a frequency that has a radio station in my area) and it charges my iphone! It's perfect. My friend actually broke mine, and I still bought another one because I love this transmitter so much. I definitely would recommend this to anyone.

Worked on Spanish rental car
Got this for a trip to Spain so we could listen to music on our iPhones while driving around, and since we were renting the cheapest car available, I wasnt expecting any digital car stereo interface. Anyway, it worked great for that purpose. With an empty radio signal the sound quality was pretty good, and we were able to charge two phones at once while listening to music on one of them. Good for getting voice prompts from google maps. One time my phone said "this accessory is not supported" but I just unplugged it and plugged it right back in a minute later and it worked again. Great price, and it's great for traveling with too, cuz it's so darned small. I'd give it 5 stars, except we only used it for about a week so I can't comment on its durability.

Works for 3 MONTHS!!!
What a waste of money. This worked well for 3 months then overheated to the point of melting the center piece! The device first started falling apart after 2 months. I used electrical tape to attempt to solve the problem. Then the middle section started getting VERY HOT & eventually crapped out completely leaving a strong stench of melted plastic in my car.Very useless for the money I spent!!! so irritating.

It was a bit weary at first, but it was for naught.
When I first received the item, the package and instructions were written in poorly translated English. So I had fears that this product wouldn't last. Well... It's been several months now and it still works great! I don't even get static going through underpasses with this item! It's signal is very powerful. A lot more powerful than the larger brand-names.

only lasted 5 months.
It worked fairly well for 5 months before it fell apart. I think the heat of the summer did a number on it until the wires shorted out. When something is meant to be used in a car I expect it to handle the heat....my other chargers do fine in the heat and I'm not going to take my cords out of the car every time I get out. How ridiculous would that be?

Pleasantly surprised by my (cheap) transmitter!
My last transmitter finally died and I wanted to buy a new one with newer ratings (since it seems transmitters are not a popular way of playing your ipod in the car these days). I didn't have high hopes since I'd never heard of "Excelvan" before, but I am so pleasantly surprised! The transmitter is strong enough to block out weak stations (I live in the Boston metro area where there's a lot of competition for airspace) and super easy to change frequencies. I've had it for about two months and have taken it on a couple of interstate roadtrips where it continues to work well. It is well worth the ~$20 I paid for it!

Quick setup, perfect for purpose!
I admit I bought this inexpensive gizmo as a bit of an experiment - would it work? How good would the sound be if it did? On both counts I was very pleasantly surprised. Sick of lugging a glove compartment full of CDs around, I wanted a way of listening to my ipod in the car without having something fitted at vast expense. This pocket device works by broadcasting the ipod's output on an FM frequency of your choosing, and you then just tune in your car radio to the same frequency, put the "channel" in your radio's memory and there you go - instant ipod. The device took me just ten minutes to set up for the first time, and most of that was devoted to working out how to save a new channel in my Vauxhall Corsa's radio. The device plugs into the car's cigarette lighter and charges the ipod at the same time as playing your music. It's compatible with an iPhone, too.I've seen some people complaining about not getting clear reception but mine was perfect - clear as a bell and better than reception on some of the BBC stations. I do live in a rural area though, so it will be interesting to see how the device performs next time I'm driving in a city where the waveband is more crowded. I anticipate I might have to alter the frequency to find something without interference. All in all, a great little purchase!!

Great idea, poor quality build
What a good idea - not only does it act as a transmitter and charger, it has a USB port on it too, so you can connect a second USB device. Really useful for my family, because while the iPhone was being used as a sat nav, another device could be charged. How clever!Sound quality was pretty good, and maintained a good connection. We do live in the country though, so there's not a lot of radio station activity.Unfortunately, it has failed us after three months due to poor build quality. The wires are not very well connected to the plug parts. We're not rough with it, and it's stored safely and neatly away when not in use. You could see them slowly creeping out of the plugs until it got to this point. If they were soldered, it would appear the solder failed. Just a little more care in the manufacturing process would have ensured this useful product would have gone on much longer.

an 'also ran'
it works, but I leave near london and it is quite difficult to find an open frequency. Worked ok with the car aerial removed, but that's a bit annoying when you'd like to check the radio while hurtling down the m25. finally found a freq that seemed to work, and it does plug in to the iphone 4s with my heavy duty case on, but I stepped on the loose end the other day and it is toast now. I did think to return it straight away due to 'high pitched whine', but got email support to please try more freqs. Oh, would have done better if it extended outside the normal fm range a bit more (like my toyota radio does) as the 0.5mhz or whatever at those ends are open!

Great piece of kit
it does what it says on the tin.A single connection to my iphone, and I have both power and sound transmitted over fm...the frequency is easy to read on the blob, and the socket even has a spare usb port for charging something else. great stuff.have only had it a day, so longevity I dont know.

Wires come loose
So after six months use the wires are coming out of both ends however good short term solution. Get interference some times so wiggle of the car charger and or switching off radio seems to fix. Used on iPhone 4s

Good piece of kit
Simple to use an does what it says. Good sound quality and I have had no problem finding a free frequency. Only issue I have is that it does not charge my phone very quickly. Not a massive issue though

great
nice and easy to use. Clear reception. Better than others because the phone socket is the same size as apple connector so it will fit through cases and phone covers.

Works as an FM transmitter....
Its does its purpose, but you can't have your music on too loud because there is a high pitched ringing and if you go in a tunnel/multi storey car park, you get a lot of static. Its not a very strong signal and I find I'm constantly changing the frequency to get good sound.I do like the USB connector though!

Better than the competition
For an item with very few reviews I was pleasantly surprised to find out that it was so superior to the other transmitter I had bought, based on thousands of Amazon reviews. The Excelvan seems sturdy, well designed and works perfectly. Would recommend to anyone.

Surprisingly Good
I purchased this as a cheap alternative to my Griffin cable and to be completely frank the look is not as polished but the function and build are equal to the Griffin product. Very easy to use, with an additional USB socket built in to the plug. Definitely worth the money.

great!
Good quality. Worked straight out of box, just plug in, set a frequency and you are good to go. Nice.

Great Product Good Sevice
Worked straight out of the box. Just plugged it in and tuned the radio. No interference at the moment but the FM band is very clear in my part of the country.

Waste of money!
Did not work. Complete waste of money and time. Would not recommend this product. I do not have anything else to say.
