Too good! best in class color and resolution
I have so many of these in my office, BEST monitors EVER! for the HD resolution, they give more vertical size of 1200 as opposed to 1080 in normal wide screen monitors. Also has USB ports to the side, 2 of them which you can connect to the PC's back. VERY useful. supports DVI and VGA (no HDMI though, which is a drawback these days)The color and contrast reproduction is quite amazing on these monitors. I am using three of the same ones together. only one bought from this site.

Really happy with the new monitor
Really happy with the new monitor! The only two things I wasn't too happy about was the fact that there was no tracking number and the packaging. Monitor was shipped in his original box, which had a small dent in it. Nothing happened so far I could see, but it sure would benefit from beeing packed in a second box.

Crisp and Clean
Having spent several months researching an upgrade for my 2007 Samsung Syncmaster 226BW (a superb monitor, though I did have to replace the capacitors a couple years back), I decided to buy the Dell U2412M. I'm glad I did.The monitor is spectacular: crisp and clean with all good pixels. Default settings are very good, but I did make minor adjustments based on the test system provided by Lagon (http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/). The stand is solid and well designed. The four downstream USBs are welcome. Two are somewhat inaccessible at the back, but that's fine for a keyboard and/or mouse. The other two are on the lefthand side, very convenient for flashdrives.Regarding setup, there are some quirks. I received a UK power cable, but I had to laugh when I unwrapped it because it's way too short to be useful. I mean, it's just so cute, like a puppy dog tail, 40 inches, one meter. Maybe I'll use it for something else one day. Fortunately most of us have spare power cables kicking around. The CD is useless. It doesn't actually do anything at all. Instead, you need to go to the Dell website (http://www.dell.com/support/home/uk/en/ukdhs1/product-support/product/dell-u2412m/drivers) and download the driver (DELL_U2412M-MONITOR_A00-00_DRVR_YXXV4.exe). The exe simply unpacks the driver (U2412M.inf). From Windows Device Manager, update the default P&P driver by pointing to the folder containing the U2412M.inf file. Windows will then recognize the monitor. Forget the related Dell DDM Monitor Application download. It doesn't work. While every application on your system will recognize the Dell monitor (once you have installed the driver), the Dell DDM Monitor Application (ddmsetup1586.exe) won't. I laughed again when the Dell monitor software couldn't recognize its own Dell monitor. Amusing, but you don't need it anyway. These are minor quibbles. I just point them out to save you some time during setup.Overall, I'm thrilled with this monitor. Simple, elegant, clean and functional. The screen is uniformly lighted, flawless, text is sharp, colors are sublime. While the reviews suggested this would be a good monitor, it exceeded my expectations. Best 200 quid I've spent in a long time.As for the bad reviews, I'm puzzled. Either you got a freak dud or your video card sucks or you accidentally dropped it off a cliff. As Jordan Grosz pointed out in a hilarious review on Amazon.com, this monitor won't wash your dishes, walk the dog or give you every pixel in the Andromeda galaxy. If you want that, be prepared to fork out mucho serious cash. For average humans who want a brilliant monitor at a reasonable price, this is excellent value for money.

Exceptional and affordable
I wanted to find a monitor to connect my MacBook Pro to in order to have a more ergonomic home office. I'm an engineering graduate student, so I spend a lot of time at my computer and wanted something that would make reading scientific articles, word processing, multiple monitor-managing, and coding more enjoyable and comfortable.I was directed to this monitor by the recommendation of a good friend who bought one for a similar purpose. This product immediately seemed like a great option; it was very large, had a display-port for connecting to Macs, had a reasonable price tag, and had several unique features that made it even more attractive. Still, as a broke grad student the price tag was a bit much - but I went ahead and found a refurbished unit through Amazon Warehouse (HIGHLY recommend going through them).I purchased the monitor along with a mini Display Port to Display Port adaptor (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003TSTDI0/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_2), the unit arrived and I more or less effortlessly put it together and began experiencing the joys of owning a high definition and large screen monitor.I loved this monitor so much that I bought another through Amazon Warehouse to install in my lab office. It was just terrible trying to go back to using just my laptop screen! I will say though, that one of the pixels on the second refurbished unit i bought is dead, which was a bit annoying but I figure it will keep me from using it to watch too much TV in lab.So below I just wanted to speak in more detail about some of the features that were just super nice that make me love this monitor so much.===Flexible ScreenThe screen is really, remarkably pliant. You can turn it any which way, angle it up and down, and just get it into whatever position you would possibly want. Perhaps the only thing you could complain about is that the height of the screen can't be altered.===HD ScreenThe screen is great for watching any HD content, and the size of the thing makes it large enough to play to the role of a TV. I've also found the color representation to be high fidelity, which has been very useful in my endeavors as an amateur digital photographer. The screen beautifully renders my images during post-processing and helps me in making my adjustments to contrast and white balance.===Rotating ScreenThis has been really nice for reading scientific journal articles, and it allows me to have a more natural reading experience. By more natural, I mean it makes it feel like I have a copy of the journal in front of me because I can see the whole page at once. It makes a big difference for those articles where you want to see the text and the figures at the same time.On another note, it has been really handy in editing portrait-oriented photographs. Normally with this orientation you have to deal with looking at a shrunken version of your picture since the height will be limited by the height of the screen. When you rotate the screen, you're able to see the picture at its full size and you will be able to edit it much more carefully.===OtherThe screen is really super easy to calibrate following the instructions given by the Mac OS, so that's nice. Also, the fact that the monitor has its own USB ports are a big plus if you want to set up a permanent external hardrive without having to connect it directly to your Mac every time you get home or to the office.===Environmental ImpactOn a more important note, I think it is great to support products (especially those that perform this well) that are conscious of their environmental impact. With this purchase you are getting a fantastic monitor while simultaneously supporting the environment. And seriously, the environment needs some major supporting right now.
