I bought these for an above ground pool. First problem I noticed is that they really don't absorb much. Bugs and small particles tend to gravitate towards the item but they do not soak up oils and scum as advertised. Secondly, they float right on to ofvthe water and are so light they always end up in the skimmer basket. They are really too large to place one inside the intex skimmer and still have it work effectively. Lastly, they come apart in layers and these thin, toilet paper like layers slough off into the pool, dissolving even further and clogging intakes and filters. I used the scum sponges last season and will return to that product.

These really work extremely well. I had my doubts, but now I am a true believer. These Hot Tub Scum Balls are worth the price and really keep my Hot Tub clean from any oils and any "scum". How could anything so simple be so effective, but these should be standard accessory to any Hot Tub purchase.

These do not work at all to collect scum and keep it off the water's rim on the hot tub. However, we have found they are great for scrubbing off the scum on the water's rim! I'm not actually sure if any product can prevent the scum on the tub but using these things is better than putting on more chemicals. We scrub, then tear away a layer of the "flower" and toss it in the trash. My husband does not like these because he thinks they look like feminine hygiene products so I've ordered Scum Balls!!

We just toss these in to bob around and they really do skim the surface and absorb residue from body oils, lotions etc. Just be aware that when the jets are active, they will be drawn into the pump area. We usually just place them on the side when we use the spa, then set them afloat again before putting the cover back on.

I bought this for my inground swimming pool only. It seems to be doing a decent job and it has collected oils, bugs and I don't know what else other gross stuff is on it. The only reason I didn't give this product 5 stars is you can tell it's not going to be able to be used after being washed off. The outer layer peels off..

I have a 500 gallon hot tub and used two of these at a time, and they don’t work. They don’t absorb all oils, especially not as good as other products like the Scum Bugs. These sponges are long and flat and just flake apart over a few days, causing big flakes of debris to float around filter basket. I am currently experiencing clogged filtration now from th debris, for I have “flow” flashing on my hot tub screen. I can’t clean that out unless I drain the tub, and it’s -5 here today. Super inconvenient, let alone what kind of damage these can potentially do on expensive spa/pool equipment. Don’t buy.

dont waste time and money buying this. As others have said, it breaks as soon as placed in the hottub. I wonder how reliable the positive reviews are, especially the ones saying it is washable. It surely is not, as will be ruined very quickly. Yes, it seems to be catching dirt, but it decomposes as soon as in the water, so that creates more mess, not less. I dont like to leave bad reviews, but i meant to write that one for a while now, but wanted to try all of the sponges beforehand. will not buy again.

I thought these were ok, but after a couple weeks they break down into little pieces and are hard to get out of the hot tub, right now we are going to have to drain our tub just to get all the pieces out. :-(
