do the pipes that look like it is segmented come apart into smaller sections so that you can clean them more easily?

This was a gift, but I am sure the pieces do not come apart anymore than you see in the description photo.

Anyone have luck getting these to stay on the tile? Our set arrived with a broken piece so I'm returning, but am considering ordering a new set. Thx!
