Pleasantly Surprised
Don't tell my wife I bought this, because she'll knock me upside the head. However, we have a little one on the way, and I promised the ol' ball & chain that I'd make a baby changing table. I've been racking my brain about how I'm going to get through all this joinery in time, and decided that I needed yet another tool...as always. I had known about the Kreg pocket hole jigs for some time, but had always put off buying one. I can tell you for certain, this thing is going to be the game-changer (until I also become the baby-changer).I opted for this K4 kit, as opposed to the K5 Master System for a few reasons: the K5 upgrades include a front-mounted clamp handle, but I don't think that I'll have any trouble reaching an extra 4 inches to clamp my pieces down. I might regret that when it comes time to drill pocket holes in large pieces of plywood. Secondly, the K5 has storage units that also act as workpiece supports, but similarly, I think I'll get by.This particular K4 kit ended up being on par price-wise with the K5, but it also includes a TON of extra pocket hole screws, namely the 1-1/4" (both hardwood & soft/plywood varieties) that get used the most often. This kit also included the Kreg face clamp, which comes in very handy in holding your workpieces together while joining. This kit does not come with a Kreg pocket hole clamp (the Automaxx right angle clamp, the one that seats inside an actual pocket hole), and I'm considering buying one separately. At $30, though, at this point it's either that or clothes for the baby. The K4 seems pretty well made and durable. The markings on the jig make it very easy to set up. There's even a groove on each side to properly set the collar on the drill bit. The additional dust port piece is fantastic, and makes sure no mess is left behind. The drill block is removable, so clamping it to your workpiece to use as a mobile jig is easy.Wish me luck!

Makes joining wood simpler.
Been a fan of Kreg tools for awhile now as a hobbyist woodworker. The kit has a lot of neat tools, I would recommend buying this tool as a kit because in the past I purchased the jig and the bit, getting a solid alignment between the 2 pieces of wood was tricky without the face clamp.
