Thor by Jason Aaron & Russell Dauterman Hardcover – September 20, 2016

First of all, Dauterman's art is amazing. It elevates the story, and at times even saves it from its own blandness.The writing dips in and out of being really good. The new Thor is fun to watch, but the thought bubbles that betray her inner, millenial thinking kinda ruins the whole vibe at times. If "Whedon-speak" is still charming to you, than that won't be a problem for you, but I found it a little deflating to have a thought bubble go "Say something badass" before Thor says a one-liner. Aaron likes to "lamp-shade" many of these tropes, having Thor's thoughts point out how she shouldn't react to large explosions behind her and the like.That's a general problem with the run; everyone has come down with a case of being "too cool." Virtually every single character is generally unimpressed with everyone else. Even two SHIELD agents who have yet to be seen in the Marvel universe mostly yawns at the outrageous events in the book, because they're just too cool to be impressed with an army of ice giants waging war on a god of thunder in front of them. Because of this, it's hard for a reader to be impressed by any of the characters as well; nobody is intimidated by the villain, because the other villains are too cool to be scared of a trillionaire who own s countries and can become a monster powerful enough to grapple with the Hulk. And if these two nobody SHIELD agents aren't intimidated by it, we the readers are hardly worried for Thor.The plotline is fairly good. At the very least, it's not a monster-of-the-week kind of thing. Each chapter leads to a larger plot, so it's at least going somewhere. There is a mystery to what the villains are truly planning, which is revealed to the reader, as much of the plot actually follows the villain. A great deal of the story is actually villains seducing various other villains and politicians to participate in a game of political chess, so be aware of that.It was fun to have a new Thor, who even wields Mjolnir in ways the original Thor couldn't, and as I said, the art really saves the book. Despite all I said, I quite enjoyed the read, though I had to ignore a lot of lame dialogue to do it.

Pure joy. All the best things about a Thor comic despite removing the usual protagonist. Can't recommend this enough.

One of the best books ever.The Jason Aaron run, especially with Esad Ribic, is amazing.They're creating an absolute epic that is running better than Blackest Night and just about almost any other ongoing story line printed in comics.

SpoilersI wanted to enjoy this so much, I'm a huge Thor Fan and absolutely loved Thor: God of Thunder by Jason Aaron.For me this story feels like a step down from previous ones, the depth of mythology is just replaced with something less. The introduction of the New Thor, should and possibly still could be intruiging. The problem for me is more how they realised the new Thor and her role within the mythology.It seems that with being worthy to wield Mjolnir and as it says on the hammer 'the Power of Thor'. She has somehow acquired the personality, speech, skills and knowledge of Thor Odinson at the same time. She is also written to be his better in every way possible. She has better relationships with his friends and even his mother and can wield Mjolnir in a way Thor Odinson has 'never seen before'. She can even accomplish tasks he did in a better way. On top of this she has usurped his literal name and he now refers to himself, and seemingly the entire 10 realms do too, as 'The Odinson'.This is by no means a bad book, The story is passable and plays off established elements from previous stories. The aspect the was the most compelling to me, is that of Thor Odinson. Loosing his way, his worthiness and what it means to be Thor and how he breaks down in response to his unworthiness is truly a story to behold. I honestly wish the story focused more on that.The artwork is phenomenal. Russell Dauterman is amazing and deserves as much credit as possible for this.I hope to be proven wrong as the story goes on but I have a feeling the things that frustrated me with this will be ever more present in future books.Jason Aaron I love your work and i love that you were trying something different but this was a flawed thing of beauty.

This is the start of an amazing chapter in Jason's Aaron's Thor run. Both the writing and art are top notch with many layers that bear re-reading.

Arrived in time and looks very nice. There is a remainder mark on the book that I wasn't advised about but other than that - perfect.

Jason Aaron writes Thor with wit and wonder, grounding it in reality for us Migardians yet retaining all the mythic majesty expected of fabled Asgard. With Thor, the Odinson, no longer deemed worthy of the enchanted hammer Mjolnir, a new Thor emerges to the delight of some and the consternation of many. Why? The new God of Thunder is a mysterious woman. Not until the final page do we find out who she is under the helmet. The arc is superbly crafted by Aaron and the artwork by Russell Dauterman is simply spectacular. It is a joy to read. The only spoil is that of the big reveal itself. Not to blame Aaron and Dauterman, though. Rather, the editor has assembled the collection such that Thor's identity is revealed not on a turn of the page, but on the second page of a two-page spread -- ultimately, spoiling the surprise. Still, highly recommended.

Estes dois primeiros arcos da nova Thor são ok e só.É massa mais pela birra de geral de ter uma Thor mulher. E pelo fato do Odinson tá no lixo.Malekith arquitetando os planos com o Agger e com o Gigantes.Aaron planejou muito bem o run. Desenhos bem bacanas também.No anual, a melhor história é do Thor no desafio de bebidas com Thor.Continua sendo uma boa fase para acompanhar.
