Absolutely. My five year old has dexterity issues, he's in OT, and this is great practice! It's not just okay, it's helpful. Just let him stop when he gets frustrated...take a week instead of an hour to make a potholder. I bought this after our plastic one broke, it's sturdier and the colors are more attractive. Oh, and you might need to do the final step for him, but that's quick.
