One Crazy Summer

This movie is a classic and should be rereleased.So many funny lines, great comedic performances and the dog....so funny.

It has become a tradition in our house to watch it at the beginning of every summer. Just do it.

The picture quality is great for this movie. Just overall a great movie and conversion.

Favorite movie

After waiting for this one to show up on streaming services over the years, I opted to rent this one and it's just as good as I remember. Along with "Better Off Dead", Savage Steve and John Cusack made some really great films in the mid 80s. This one is definitely worth the watch and rental fee.

One Crazy Summer is not a serious film; it's a comedy with a cartoonish style, but it's a wonderful example of what such an exaggeratedly wacky movie should be. Starting on the foundation of the basic 1980s screwball comedy, it transcends the other B movies of that genre with its characters and its own unique laugh-out-loud moments.Bobcat Goldthwait in particular steals the show as Egg Stork, but he's still there to back up the main character Hoops McCann (John Cusack), whose own cartoon creations--the cute and fuzzy bunnies--are determined to thwart his quest to find love. The standard '80s comedy elements come into play with Cassandra (Demi Moore), who's trying to save her grandfather's house from a nasty stereotype villain who wants to build a lobster restaurant in its place. Everything seems to click pretty well in the movie; it doesn't have any dull spots and the humor stays pretty fresh even at a second and third viewing. It's become one of my perennial favorites.There are some especially worthwhile moments, mostly due to Bobcat's wonderful zaniness. The Godzilla scene alone makes the movie memorable. The cartoons drawn by Cusack's character appear now and then to illustrate how his search for love is going; those cute and fuzzy bunnies are vicious.Parents take note: This is family fare; feel free to watch it with your kids. There's nothing really objectionable in the movie, and Demi stays dressed for a change. It's plenty funny without being raunchy, which is fairly refreshing. If you like a good top-of-the-line goofy B movie as much as I do, One Crazy Summer belongs in your collection. I can't wait for it to appear on DVD.

I saw this movie when it first came out,and had very fond memories of it,I remembered finding it one of the funniest,totally insane comedys I had ever seen.Question was when I got hold of this DVD,was would it live up to my memories of it,or would it have dated badly like so many films from that era.Well Im happy to say that it is as fresh and funny now as it was back then.John Cusack and Demi Moore make an attractive on screen pairing,and carry the film along well,even makes you wish that Ms Moore had made more comedys,as she displays a few nice touches here and there,as for John Cusack,he is his usual likeable self.While the film offers you nothing new,it wraps everything up in a totally zany sence of humour.There is even a brilliant homage to the Godzilla movies of old,crowbared into the proceedings,for no other reason than the films makers wanted to include it.I loved this film way back then,and I still do.If your a fan of comedys that are completely off their heads,then you could do a lot worse than this one.It was crazy then and its still as crazy now.And it gets even better,it may be a Region 1 disc,but it plays fine on any DVD player,Ive tried it on four just to make sure,and the picture quality is first rate.

I remember watching this film as a child with my dad and remember thinking how great it was going to be growing up!! Of course things never are how they are in the movies, but this film will always remind me of my childhood and the dreams I had.I was aware even as a youngster that John Cusack was a great actor and I always enjoy watching the films he is in. There are a host of other good actors here as well, although I think Demi Moore was a little underused. That is her singing though!Ultimately this is a movie about love and friendship, don't go looking for any deep meaning, just enjoy watching a movie made when the world made sense!

Warner archive collection has reissued the old 1986 John cusack comedyONE CRAZY SUMMER on blu-ray better late than never reissuing this old classicthe film has a new 1:85:1 HD transfer which does look amazing picture quality Hardly no Grain no Dirtvery Good colour restoration probably give picture quality 9/10 ratingthe sound mix is a new 2.0 master stereo mix which also is very good about 7/10 for sound qualityEXTRAS, no new extras just the same audio commentary track carried over from the old dvd versionplus the original Theatrical trailer in HD qualitybut comparing this new blu-ray to the very old dvd version the blu-ray beats it 5 times overin terms of picture quality and very Good sound mix, the Disc is ABC coded aswelltheres no region code printed on back cover art which means ALL REGIONSbeing a warner bros reissue all their Discs are ALL REGIONS, has been like that for many yearsso time to scrap the old dvd version and upgrade to this new blu-ray reissue, 5 stars for this new blu-ray
