I have purchased multiple seat cushions based on reviews that they were "hard as a rock" and "like cement" only to receive yet another piece of squishy garbage.But at last, my prayers have been answered! This is truly a FIRM seat wedge cushion. I'm ordering another one for my office chair as soon as I finish writing this.For background, I had purchased a very firm wedge cushion some years ago, but by the time it had gotten worn down and needed to be replaced, that model was no longer sold. Since then I have been searching fruitlessly for something similar and making do with inferior stand-ins.The shape of most chairs, where the back of the seat is lower than the front, is absolutely terrible for my low back, hips, spine, everything. A wedge cushion that reverses the angle so that the seat slopes downward is essential for me to be able to sit for any length of time. Which, I kind of need to do for my job. The squishy cushions that flatten down when you sit on them almost defeat the purpose of having them. A firm cushion is what is needed to make the necessary correction.I am about 205 lbs and when I saw on this cushion for the first time it did not compress AT ALL. MAGIC. I'm sure it will begin to soften up and flatten more with time, because that's just what foam does. But I believe that it will last a good long while before I need to replace it.I admit there is no extra padding built into this seat cushion. If that's an issue for you, you could put a small pad on top of it to improve comfort levels. For me, it's pretty much perfect as is.

I am not sure why, I had purchase the same exact one a few years ago at a store. They unfortunately no longer carried it. Mine is worn out. I was happy to have find it here on Amazon. However it is not as soft. I am still keeping it. I have it weigh down with stuffs. Will see if it will be a bit soft. I used this in the car

I preferred the former orthopedic seat cushion but I find the new foam, while far stiffer, soon conforms to body heat. The upside is that the seat remains of good thickness in use rather than flattening down until it is almost useless to people with spinal issues. I am still getting used to the changed foam but my previous cushion stood up to daily use for so long I remain a satisfied customer and will return when the next one is needed. Frankly, I am tired of wedge cushions that soon "bottom out" with use and leave you sitting on something the thickness of a thin pancake.... this one stays the course. Let it warm up as you sit and it does nicely.

I had one of these cushions for about 10 years and it was getting worn out so I bought another one because it fits my back really well. I have a bad back and can't sit in just any chair without a cushion. I have tried other cushions but this one works best. Seems like there has been a small change in the way it is made but still works but not quite as good as the first one I bought 10 years ago.

This cushion is very hard, much more than previous ones of this same brand. Time will tell if it softens up any.

I love this cushion.. In fact, this one replaces one that I wore out with lots of use. It is firm (which I need to sit upright in my car's driver's seat) and it changes the angle of the bottom of the seat. I do not understand why automakers do not build car seats to promote good posture, but it seems they do not. My previous cushions (I had two) lasted for years, and I expect these two will also. I definitely would recommend to anyone who wants to protect their back.
