Perfect for reheating if you like simple controls
I originally came from a microwave + toaster background, but now have neither. I bought the toaster oven to serve as a way to reheat food and toast bread. This is my first toaster oven, so I did not have many expectations coming in. My favorite thing about the oven is the simple controls. Rotary knobs are the superior user interface to control continuous ranges like time and temperature. Digital interfaces are nice for precise measurements, like seconds on a microwave, but not really necessary for ovens. Two knob turns gets this oven cooking. It seems like all of my other kitchen appliances require half a dozen or more button presses (with beeps) to do any task. We've now had the toaster oven for six months, and we reheat a lot of leftovers in with great success. It does a good job at roasting vegetables, and can speed things up since we can cook things in the main oven as well as the toaster oven. The size of the toaster oven is sufficient for one or two people, but I could see it being too small for a larger family.Toasting bread works OK. It is certainly not as even as a toaster would be, and it's very easy to burn toast with it. There are markings for light and dark toast on the unit, but the oven consistently over-toasts bread. Once you get the hang of it, you can toast consistently. Also, the toaster over is rated for four slices, but two is more practical. One surprise is how few dishes and cookware are rated for toaster oven use. Most dishes and even frozen dinners seem to explicitly warn against using toaster ovens, which is a shame.

For the money, a great deal.
It's not a convection and it's a bit on the small size, but for the money I'd say it's a great deal. It does the job, and does it quickly. Perfect for a single person. Only gave it 4 stars because the baking tray that comes with it is a bit on the flimsy side and has begun to rust a bit in the underside seams. But it's not a big deal, since I always use parchment paper anyway. Wouldn't bake cookies in it, but for everyday use (for small meals) it's fine. Had I the extra money, I'd have gotten a convection but, as I said, can't beat this one for the price.A few months later: I came back to add these things, since I've used it for a while now and figured out a few things. Firstly, for those who say it's "crappy", I would argue that it is NOT. You do get what you pay for, so if you want something that's super awesome, put up the extra dollars. Otherwise, I stick to my original review: it's a good little oven, especially for the price. Also, it does tend to run a little hot; this isn't a problem for me, as I have an oven thermometer. So, I stick it in there until I get it right, then take it out and bake/broil/etc. The "overage" is around 25-30 degrees. I'm guessing that each one may be different. Still, it works great.Lastly, this is not the smallest oven I've ever had, nor is it in any way large. But for my needs, it suits. There are dimensions included in the description (go to the Waring website) so you can get a better idea. This is NOT a "family sized" toaster oven. Do your homework, people!

Put our microwave, big oven and panini grill to rest.
Had it for two and half years now and use it almost daily, it works great. It heats fast and the temp is pretty accurate. I have never burned anything in there. We debated between toaster oven vs. toaster before purchase since we have microwave and big oven already. My husband insisted on toaster oven and he is right - it does so much more than a toaster and I found myself using it more and more. Besides toasting bagels and bread, we use it to make hot sandwiches - as the cheese melt, the bread is getting toasted too without being saggy. We love to snack on a handful of mixed nut, and it is just so much better when we toast them for a couple minutes - something they do for first class passengers on the plane. Leftovers such as pizza and wings taste a lot better out of toaster oven than microwave. We also use the boiler function a lot - usually to crisp the skin of meat.It fits our lifestyle well - we cook meat in big batches with our big oven, divide meat in small portions and freeze them. We also make our own pizza and divided a half-way down pizza into smaller pieces and freeze them. For a quick dinner on a weekday night, it is so easy just to toast some bread, heat up some pull pork or a piece of buffalo chicken to make a quick sandwich. Or bake a slice of pre-made pizza. The food taste crisp and it is nice not have to fire up our big oven every time. We used to use panini grill for making hot sandwiches, but it cannot handle too thick of a sandwich - which is the definition of a good sandwich for my husband, and does require cleaning - which is part of the housework for my husband. So our panini grill was not used very much after we had this toaster oven.We keep it clean by lining a piece of foil on top of the bottom foil, so we only need to rinse the rack clean. So I cannot comment on how easy it is to clean. We have not owned other toaster oven before so there is no way to compare between brands. But my mother-in-law is an experienced user and has had many over the years. This is the one she sets on. So we do not feel like even test other brands.
