The product description for this product states, "Transmits data at up to 480Mbps." This is the USB 2.0 maximum speed spec. One cannot tell whether this product description means that this cable is entirely capable of going at least at this maximum 2.0 speed (and perhaps more) or whether it means this cable cannot transmit signals that are faster than that. I would bet that this cable could be used for a faster USB 3.0 device because it is only 6" long. However, if you must squeeze out every bit of speed, up to the published (but probably unachievable) speed of 5Gbs, then buy a cable that is specifically 3.0.
