Hero iPhone case retires after 8 months of duty
First of all, let's all take a deep breath. This is an $11 iPhone case, not some sort of crystal heirloom piece to pass down to your children. If that's what you're expecting, you can expect to be put in a home. It's meant to get chewed to crap in order to protect the phone underneath it, but that's about as far as I'll go to appeal to common logic. Let he who does not use his iPhone on the toilet cast the first stone because frankly, the exterior of people's phones are leaps and bounds more incriminating than any data stored on them.On to the review: I purchased this case for my iPhone back in October, roughly 8 months prior to writing this review. The edges have discolored, the back is completely scratched up, and the rubber bumper side has started to detach from the hard plastic backing as everyone else seems to be experiencing.Considering what I put my iPhone through over the past 8 months, this really isn't so bad because you see, I drop my phone constantly. In fact, the worst drop I had was while running outside I tripped, dropped my phone screen side down on the sidewalk, landed on top of it, and then skidded for what felt like 6 feet. That's how fast I was going, you can believe me or not. I then proceeded to play dead for about 5 minutes both out of shame and fear of checking what had become of my phone. I was completely expecting it to be obliterated into an electronic skid mark but when I finally picked it up, there was zero damage. NONE. This case took 100% of the fall like an iPhone secret service agent while I was left to deal with skinned hands and knees for weeks. So, 8 months down the line when this case looks like garbage and is falling apart, I'm all ready to buy a new case from some other vendor and hop on the ratings obliteration train for this case, but I can't bring myself to do it because of all the insane hits my phone took. And knowing that it can take the sort of falls I put it through -- whether it was my epic death skid on a sidewalk or simply dropping it like I did while writing this review -- I can look past the relatively short lifespan and cosmetic issues because at the end of the day, it does what I need it to do. Silk is honoring their lifetime warranty and sending me a replacement and this case will receive a proper Viking funeral for its service.

Stylish, slim, functional
This is a wonderful case and I really love it! For starters, it's really pretty and not at all cheap-looking. I chose the rose gold color, and it's lovely. It really looks coppery more than pink, as the photo appears, but that was fine by me. I think maybe the photo looks more pink because that seems to be a rose gold finish on the phone, where is mine is the matte black. You can still see the phone color peek through the glitter and I really like that about it. As far as function goes: it's got a nice lip around the front to protect the screen if you lay it face down on a surface, but not so much of one that it's irksome when using your device. I was concerned at first about the thickness of the back of the case, as it seemed to sit back further than the lens, which had me worried about scratching my camera lens! Upon closer inspection, there are 4 tiny bumps that you can't see unless you're looking for them (I just happened to accidentally feel mine when I was handling the case later on) that work like legs to have the whole thing, device and all, resting just above the surface it's sitting on when you lay the device down screen up! So smart! There is one in each of the three corners plus one just below the leftmost part of the hole for the lens. I've never seen this on a case before, and I own or have owned mountains of cases I have ordered off Amazon over the years. It's quite clever. The buttons work perfectly and without any extra effort needed. It doesn't muffle the speaker on the bottom at all, and all of my chargers, both Apple brand and generic (I find that the head of the charger on generic cords tend to be larger than the Apple versions by quite a lot sometimes) have fit the port just fine without having to remove the case. The case was a little difficult to put on, but not much, and taking it off is a snap. I feel secure with this case, and it's still pretty and not too bulky! I'm very pleased with my purchase!

Not completely designed for the 7 Plus...
Silk clearly didn't have advanced specs on the iPhone 7 Plus when the made this case. I don't have the iPhone 7 Plus myself yet, but I wanted to have a case on hand when it came in. I really like the way the case is made and I tried it on my 6S Plus and it fits it just fine. The reason I know they didn't have the specs is that there are no speaker holes/opening on the top of the case for the top speaker. They didn't know it was going to have stereo speakers. They do have the two openings on the bottom, even though one of the speaker openings on the bottom of the phone is fake so the case doesn't need an opening there. So if you just want to have something on hand for when your shiny knew iPhone 7 Plus arrives and use until you decide exactly what kind of case you want then this one is great. Otherwise save your money and apply it towards a case that is properly made for the iPhone 7 which is probably no case that you can buy before Apple announced the iPhone 7.

Totally fine... totally transparent, which I thought would be better.
This case is totally fine. It's not quite as slim as I was hoping, but I really really like the design of the iPhone 7, and I would probably think any case was bulky in comparison (except maybe one of those silicon sleeve things). Though I really wouldn't call it ultra slim. Maybe just slim? Somewhat slim? Moderately slim. Slimmer than an Otter box.Anyway, I'm keeping it on right now so I avoid scratching the camera, which sticks out from the body of the phone, but I'll replace it as soon as I can find something else. The real problem is the transparency. I guess I should have known, but I've never gone transparent for any of my other iPhones. For the 7, I wanted to preserve as much of the aesthetic as I could. But wow seeing the dust collect between the case and my phone is really not a fun experience. Of course it's there anyway, but there's something about SEEING it that really detracts from the experience. So it's a perfectly fine case, does what it advertises, but wooboy is it not a pleasing thing to have around a well-designed (IMO) piece of hardware.
