The PageFlip Cicada is a wireless Bluetooth pedal designed to meet the needs of musicians who struggle with the challenge and inconvenience of page turning. PageFlip Cicada works exclusively with digital documents, web pages, and image collections on any Windows, Mac, or Linux computer. It even works with iPads under select apps that accept keyboard commands. By simply tapping the dual foot pedal of the PageFlip Cicada, the digital content can now be flipped or scrolled in either the forward or reverse directions for convenient hands-free reading.

The unit functions well and connects easily to my Ipad via Bluetooth
A bit flimsy for road gigs. Page Flip cheaped- out on the plastic. I can't forsee this unit holding up under the rigors of gigging - especially when you compare it to the average stomp boxes that are built to take a heavy foot! The unit functions well and connects easily to my Ipad via Bluetooth. However, when connecting to my laptop which is not Bluetooth equipped, I had to purchase a "Bluetooth dongle" for 8 bucks. Page Flip offers a bluetooth dongle as an option, but I'll bet it costs more than what I paid for one through Amazon.Anyway, I'm happy with my purchase. It makes viewing set lists and songs sooooo much easier, and can scroll forward, backwards slowly or a page at a time. Overall a good buy, and I would have given it a 5-star had it been made stringer and included the dongle!

I like this pedal
I like this pedal. I use it every week, but...Programming it is a true PITA. The has to be a better way to pair this pedal with a tablet. I have done it dozens of times, I'm a pretty smart guy but I still need the stupid instructions every time I have to pair it (which honestly isn't THAT often). Pedal slides around a LOT even on carpet...I've tried velcro and non slip materials of many types. Pedals hold up well (even though the pedal always seems flimsy to me) and battery life has lasted me through two shows or more of 4 hour sets each. It was past the return window and I did have a failure where it just stopped working which is why the three stars. I was sent another one to replace it for shipping and handling charge but still....I don't klnow if I would buy this again. The options out there are slim from what I can tell. But if they made one that could pair easily, could stay put and felt a bit more solid I would go for it.

Works very well
I ordered this Item and have been using it for a couple of months in a band with Songbook software. Yes its is made of plastic but is more sturdy than some would lead you to believe and it works just as advertised. No you do not want to let a 4 ton elephant stand on it but lets be adults here. I did not write a review until now because now I have a reason to give them 5 stars. I was using it on a windows 7 PC with no problems but was forced to purchase a new laptop and of course it has the dreaded Windows 8. (Not a fan and yes I have been working with computers and IT for 25 years). This pc did not have bluetooth on it so I had to use the dongle that came with it and I have the V4 (newest) version of the pedal. Windows 8 sees it as a keyboard so immediately asks for a pairing code to be typed in, kinda hard with it being a pedal and all. I sent an email to PageFlip Support asking if it worked with Win8 and was pleasantly surprised when not only did I receive a reply in less than 24 hours but was also informed that Yes it will work with Windows 8 and a new dongle based on bluetooth 3.0 was being sent to me FREE of charge. Two days later it arrives and works like a champ. I found it very refreshing that a company these days not only stands behind their product as Windows changes every other week but sent me the corrective HARDWARE free of charge to fix it. So 5 stars and Major Kudos to PageFlips customer service which these days in the US is severely lacking.

Works great. I recommend it.
The good:- It connects and works great with the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2, 10.1. (Just FYI: I am using a very handy app called MobileSheets.)- It's pretty light-weight and easy to carry around. (Doesn't add weight to my gig bag.)The not-as-good: (But not too bad)- The device's 10-minute auto power-off feature could be longer for my preference. (I have to occasionally tap the switch to make sure it's still on.)- It is pretty light weight. Although I don't think I could say it's cheap and poorly constructed. You might have to stomp on it pretty good to break it. (Tap on it, don't stomp on it.)- I might like a bit more feedback with the switch, and feel a good "click" under my feet. Although I understand it may be a nuisance for other's to hear constant "clicking" while they're performing or reading in a quiet environment. (of course a simple solution is to plug other switches into the device.)

It's more sturdy than it looks
I've purchased one of these in late 2012 and have used it for over a year. Another reviewer has described this as "cheap plastic construction". That is true as far as it goes, but I'd also add in "efficient", "sturdy" and "well-designed". You could stomp on it if you wanted to, without breaking it. And despite its light weight, it has a non-slip bottom which keeps it in place. Here's a usage tip: To save battery power, it goes to sleep after ten (10) minutes of no page turns. So, if you're playing intermittently, you need to remember to wake it up when you begin your piece, by stepping on it once. If you forget, you'll need to step on it twice to get the first page turn, which can be disturbing if you're not sure whether it's asleep (will turn after two steps) or awake (will turn after one step).Summary: Sure, I wish it could read my mind instead of me having to step on it, and that it could stay on forever without using battery power. But given that this is the real world, it's a good design. It works for me.

Very delicate, integrity is not anything close to an effects pedal.
I had a spring come loose on the first day. Got the spring back together, and it worked well with OnSong. Yesterday my iPad slid off of my recliner's arm, and fell less than a foot , but landed on the PageFlip. I most likely voided the warranty, because I took it apart. The teals have a plastic pic peg on each side, that rides in a circular plastic piece. One of the tabs was cracked, but not broken off, so a dab of super glue fixed that side. As I was putting it back together, the negative wire came loose from the PCB, so I soldered it on, and it now works, but I don't think this will be road worthy. I also see a compartment where a USB Dongle should be, for using it with a PC, but no Dongle. Overall, this product world be fine for flipping sheet music in an orchestra, or e-books, but not for a rock band.

Great pedal.
I find this pedal easy to use as a music page turner, when paired with a tablet. Once the tablet knows about the pedal, I just have to turn on Bluetooth on the tablet and turn on the pedal and it pairs immediately; then I select the PgUp/PgDn option and it's ready for use. I use it successfully with Mobile Sheets Pro software. Batteries seem to last well; they haven't run out during a gig or rehearsal yet, but I charge them every few events.

Toe-tapping page-turning goodness
I use this with music score software both in my Nexus tablet and my iPad. It pairs effortlessly using bluetooth, and quite simply is the answer to a pit musician's prayer ... it turns pages effortlessly. If you're a guitar player, you don't have to play hammer-ons with your left hand while you fumble to get the right spot on your touch screen. So far, the battery life is excellent (the system goes to sleep if you ignore it long enough.)

Enjoying my Cicada but it takes a bit of time of learn - don't buy a week before the concert! Only challenge is stopping it from sliding on the floor.
