Perfect for Ender 3 Pro!
**** READ THIS IF YOU ARE HAVING ISSUES ****The install went easy on my Ender 3 Pro. Everything fits with no problems. I upgraded my Ender 3 Pro with a 4.2.7 silent board and color display and added the CR Touch. The CR Touch and BL Touch V3.1 use the newer single 5 pin connector design instead of the older BL Touch split connector version which used the 2 pin z-stop port and 3pin connectors on the motherboard. For the new single 5 pin connector design, DO NOT modify it! Keep reading!**** WARNING! ****Be careful which pre-compiled firmware you are using. The wrong firmware will behave as follows: with the z-stop removed and CR Touch installed, during auto-level the Z axis will not move down with any command, only up. If you leave the z-stop connected, it will drive the entire head into the bed and damage it when trying to auto-level!The CR Touch as well as the new v3.1 BL Touch use the single 5 pin connector. You will need to download the firmware from the Creality.com website directly, unless you wish to get the Marlin code and compile it yourself with all needed options. Make sure to look in the Ender 3 V2 category (if you upgraded to the color display) on Creality.com, even though you have an Ender 3 Pro, due to the color display compatibility requirement. If you are using the old 8bit screen, you can grab the files for the Ender 3 Pro instead. If you are using the wrong incompatible firmware for the color display, you will get a loud constant beep to alarm you. Now, how to "flash" the firmware? Easy! After downloading the appropriate *.bin file, copy it onto your SD card (if you downloaded a .zip file, extract first), then stick the SD card in the printer and power up. It will automatically load the new firmware. After that you can delete the *.bin from the SD card. For the BL/CR touch, the printer will create a *.dat file, leave that one alone on the SD card as it stores the Z offset settings.Setting Z offset is easy. Auto home, then move the Z Axis back to 0.0 position. Take a sheet of paper, lower head via the Z offset menu (not the move Z axis menu) until it grabs the paper as you were doing with manual bed leveling. Once you are satisfied with the grab, you are done. I recommend looking up a YouTube video on how to set that Z offset to make it easier and clearer. The last step is to update your slicers settings to add the G29 g-code command for auto-leveling after the G28 homing command. Each time you generate your g-code, it will include this command and tell the printer to automatically level each time you start a print.

A must buy
I have been using a 3d printer with varying levels of success for several years. I just recently bought a new printer that is similar to my old one just with a newer board so that I could easily upgrade to a auto bed leveler.Installing the cr touch was easy. If you can follow directions and use a Allen wrench then the installation can be done by anyone. Flashing the new firmware was pretty straight forward. Setting up the auto bed lever was a little bit of a pain but not too bad with a little help from YouTube videos. Now that I have been using the cr touch I wish I would’ve gotten one a long time ago. It has made 3d printing more enjoyable than its ever been for me. In the past I would at times struggle with getting good bed adhesion, but now the print sticks to the bed perfectly everytime. I no longer have to include rafts or brims to try and get a good print. If you struggle with bed adhesion and you’re comfortable installing and setting up new software then getting the cr touch is a no-brainer.

Works great, awesome upgrade
My bed leveling method had always been to print a square, then watch the corners and turn the knobs to get an even sploosh. Well this upgrade is so much better. I don't even measure the z offset anymore, just start printing and adjust it while the first layer goes down. If you watch the z axis steppers, you'll see them turn ever so slightly while it's doing the first layer. Perfect sploosh every time, well worth it.Save your Z axis stop!! There's a file on thingiverse that lets you turn it into a filament sensor so you can do a single print with multiple partial rolls.

Complex install but do-able for a novice
I definitely recommend making sure that you watch some how-to guides before making the decision to install this. It was physically simple but the firmware update and recalibration was a bit tedious. I did this at the same time as a silent motherboard so it was a single session of downtime. In the end this was worthwhile and I bought one for a second Ender3 but just be aware of what you are getting into.

Why is this not included across the board?
Creality has this weird business model where they slightly update the Ender 3, but they also refuse to update the old version but sell it as is. So as a result the Ender 3 lineup has ballooned to several models, and only the most recent ones include a CR-touch as standard and you can still buy an original Ender 3 today that's the same as the one from 5 years ago... one without a CR-touch.I bring up this point because in my opinion, along with an all-metal extruder, this is probably one of the most important quality of life upgrades you can make to your older style Ender 3, and it's baffling that Creality would continue to sell printers that don't include it. Auto bed levelling is a huge quality of life upgrade (even if it doesn't completely eliminate the need to tram the bed), and so is the ability to automatically set Z axis homing if you were to use different thickness buildplates (say if you were switching from a magnetic sheet to a glass one). You still have to set Z-offset, but this is at least a relatively minor task compared to the old school method of manually levelling the bed and still potentially having high and low spots due to any uneven-ness present on the surface... or a warped bed.

Important info for know to prevent failure to funtion
I have an Ender 3 with upgraded direct drive. I zip tied the CRTouch wiring to the drive and heating element wiring as a bundle. If you do this and tightly bundle all the wires together your CRTouch will fail to function. The CRTouch wiring need to be loosely attached to the other wires to prevent electrical interference. After figuring that out, it is amazing.

replaced my bl-touch, everything was the same, didnt even need to change firmware on my ender 3 v2
i had previously bought a BL-touch before, one day, it started not to work and i wasnt able to home Z without nozzle hitting the bed, tried replacing cables, etc etc.. spent hours on trying to find out what was going on until i realized that the probe snapped..so i purchased this CR Touch because of the metal probe.. hoping this would last longer than the previous one i had.. it seems the that clicks are slightly more quiet. so far, my prints turn out great

IT'S A MUST
I have the Creality Ender 3 V2, and after months of using manual bed leveling and struggling, I decided to get the CR Touch, and after setting it up I wondered why did I bother with manual BL for so long.

What a game changer
I love this device, comes standard on many new ender series now. NOT sure how I lived without it. It takes a bit to get the bed leveled properly, but once you do and set software to auto bed level before each print, it completely takes the guess work out of 3d printing

Hardware works great
The new firmware however leaves a lot to be desired. I had a massive headache getting the first mesh to complete. Nevermind understanding how to update my slicer to utilize the auto level/load mesh functions (not adequately covered in the very minimal instructions)Still randomly hangs on me on the initial leveling BUT prints are better adhered to the bed.
