Coralife Biocube LED Canopy 14/16

I upgraded my biocube hood from bulbs to this LED hood. I enjoy the 3 different stages of built in timer lighting. I feel the this hood for my 14g cube might be too much. I’m getting a lot of algae buildup since I’ve upgraded to the LED hood. I’ve had my tank with bulbs setup for 5 years prior to that and never had this much algae buildup. Otherwise the design is nice and sleek and also quite. Tempted to go back to bulbs and sell this one on eBay. The only nice part is never having to buy bulbs but a lot more daily algae scraping.

Wanted to get into led so that I won't have to worry about the ballast problem from my old Oceanic bio cube 14" flourcent bulbs . Though it does not fit perfectly, it'll hold up good. Lights are awesome but the great downside is that it brings whole amount of algae due to the light's. They seem to be very powerful for a 14g freshwater tank. My aquariumist that it can be used for salt water. Had to reduce the light hours down to 3hrs with just day light which leaves me with no option to use other light features that comes up with this hood.

I think the color spectrum is not working as well for my star polyps but mushroom and other button softies seem to like it.

Bought this as a replacement for my BioCube 16. I hate how much it costs but its simple to install and worked fine.

Easy to install enhanced LED lighting. Provides much better lighting with a noticeable response by my corals. I particularly like the ramp-up and ramp-down automatic sequencing which the corals respond to. The hood fits perfectly and has a slightly lower profile. I was using an after-market LED setup which was better than the stock BioCube lighting but that LED system was noisier and ran hotter. The Coralife LED lighting is ten times better. It is a worthwhile purchase.
