Another great Condor knife
I now own 5 Condor knives. I continue to buy them because they are a good value and perform with excellence. The Woodlaw is no exception. Excellent build quality and the finish on the blade is really cool. The leather sheath is excellent, although I wish there was a left-handed option available. Most Condor knives I've bought were razor sharp out of the box. The Woodlaw wasn't quite as sharp as I would have liked, but a few quick runs across a whetstone and it was shaving sharp. The micarta handle is not the most ergonomic handle ever, but it's surprisingly comfortable in the hand. Overall this is a very capable knife at a great price.

A cutting edge of good steel with decent retention that’s easy to sharpen and ...
This knife is just that.A knife. No frills, bells, whistles, divets for bow drill (c’mon) or storage handles that’ll fit a single match and fishing hook. This is a knife. A cutting edge of good steel with decent retention that’s easy to sharpen and a more than comfortable, quality, handle (micarta’s where it’s at if you don’t want wood). The leather sheath is very pretty but can use some shaping, maybe a little modding to retain the knife better though I’ve never had the knife fall out (#landscaper), though I haven’t had it on any trails yet. Thanks to the seller for excellent speed of shipping and packaging.

Condor really nailed it....
I'm really impressed...I'm always on the look out for the perfect tools for my wilderness kit, and that kitis constantly changing. I own the bushlore as well (and several other condor procucts)and was really happy with that. I would rotate the bushlore in and out of my kit, depending on where I was going and what I was doing. It would often be in competitionwith one of my many Mora knives. Often my Moras would win out over the bushlore, becauseI might want something slightly more compact, or, I would want a true scandi grind.Well...this knife really has it all.Perhaps I misread the description, but I was tickled pink when the knife arrived, and I discoveredthat it is not the typical Condor scandivex type grind, and is a real scandi grind. Thats right,no convexing! Also came hair shaving sharp.I bought the knife because I liked the look of the handle, and sure enough....its great. They kept it simple, no choils, groves, curves or other "ergonomic" implements. Because of this, you can hold this knife any way you like, for long periods of time without it becoming uncomfortable. The micarta is a nice touch as well. For a quality, good high carbon steel knife, of this size and thickness, with a full tang and micartascales, you are easily going to spend well over $100. For example, just look up the Topps Bushcraft/field knife. Condor is giving us a hell of a knife at a nice price. In fact, I'm not too sure this deal canbe beat. The reason I didn't go ahead and give it the 5 stars I think it would ordinarily deserve...is that mineneeded some work. I might be a victim of quality control...mine came with the tip blunted, as thoughsomeone dropped the tip on concrete or something. Its bad enough for me to be a little disappointed, but not so much that I was gonna send it back. It was nothing I couldn't fix with a little file work.It looks like they tried to give us a 90 degree spine, but didn't quite accomplish that, so I took a fileto the spine as well, to better make shavings and strike a ferrocium rod. The blade has a number of tinynicks and dings, again, not enough for me to send it back. I see it as purely a cosmetic issue. Also, the micarta on mind is a bit "gummed up" towards the butt, and the blade. All in all, these issues were all pretty small, for me anyway, but if they had not been present, I wouldhave given this blade 5 stars all day long!I've been looking at similar blades for some time. Never pulled the trigger because I really don't wantto drop over $100 on yet another knife (I own a small arsenal of knives). For this price....I think Condorreally nailed it.

Have purchased several products from Condor K&T and been satisfied with the level of quality and affordable price
WOW! I don't even know where to begin. Have purchased several products from Condor K&T and been satisfied with the level of quality and affordable price. The Woodlaw came VERY sharp from the box, and has kept it's edge. The handle fits my hand really well and the knife overall is appealing looking. I can't think of anything negative about the Woodlaw, it even comes with a nice leather sheath.

CONDOR WOODLAW: CAMPSITE
Hi Readers!!Needless to say the CONDOR WOODLAW KNIFE 4INCH IS AWESOME!! ATTENTION TO DETAL IS OUTSTANDING! Let's check out the HANDLE...THE CONDOR WOODLAW MICARTA BROOM SHAPED side handle slabs are extremely comforable to the touch. When you give the Condor WOODLAW "BLIND" tight squeezes and rotate the in hand; I didn't feel any hot spots! The only draw back (ON THIS MODEL I RECEIVED) may be the base at the top end of the handle slabs could have use some final touch up sanding. I found the edges a little sharp for my not-picky taste.Honestly; Once I got past my excitement of receiving my the Condor WOODLAW; I REMEMBERED THE OLD SAYING:" NEVER BUY A CAR AT NIGHT" SO I DECIDED TO KEEP THIS REVIEW REAL! Below is the Improvements needed to the knife that was shipped to me! i'm not saying your results and opinion will be the same. Although I really liked the knife; after a few days i realized there were too many overlooked "QUALITY CONTROL ISSUES' with this knife. These Quality Control Issues stood out more when I compared the: " CONDOR "WOODLAW " to my previous favorite purchased: CONDOR "FINAL FRONTIER" you will see that there is a running problem with the CONDOR WOODLAW----NEEDS MOD WORK!WOODLAW KNIFE HARDWARE:All the hardware BRASS PINS including the REAMED BRASS LINED LANYARD HOLE PIN needed more sanding . ALTHOUGH; I would have added a touch more sanding to polish up the slab BRASS pins. But this is a factory blade not a CUSTOM Shop! Condor has to leave the personal minor touch up customizations to you. The nice touch was that Condor give you a moderately sharpened tang at the base of the knife that you can use to strike your ferro rod or get some scrapping for tinder. ( Save the CONDOR WOODLAW"S blade edge for your more vital campsite chores: cutting tinder, making notches for traps etc.)All in all; I may have to contact Condor for advice beyond oiling the blade; to see that I don't screw up the handles using the wrong cleaning products to spruce up my Condor WOODLAW.. I understand that using wax is an option for long term storage.KNIFE BALANCE: one inch below the top and bottom handle slabs.NOTE: I would like to have received a coupon for a CONDOR WOODLAW KNIFE CARE KIT with the small suggestion flyer that come with my CONDOR WOODLAW.Here is where I have to get real: The Condor Woodlaw I received although was well balanced and felt great in hand had too many quality control issues to speak of;THE BLADE: NICE GEOMETRIC DESIGN BUT THE PROTECTIVE COATING fell to the wayside. it was not properly completed and had smeared to the point of seeing bare metal. There were distinctive blotches on the blade . There were running streaks of oil mixed with bluing towards the hilt of the blade. It looked like the oil may have had too much alcohol thinner and it filtered through the protective blueing on the blade.COMPARISONS:The FINAL FRONTIER: THE PROTECTIVE COATING WAS SPOT ON POINT! NO STREAKS, CHIPPING OR PIMPLES!NOTE; BOTH knives are almost identical: BOTH ARE FULL TANG KNIVESBALANCECONDOR: FINAL FRONTIER Design: EXCELLENT LONGER HANDLE COMFORTABLE THUMB RAMP. AND BUTT CAP.CONDOR WOODLAW: COMFORTABLE BROOM HANDLE DESIGN, EXTENDED BLADE TANG 90 DEGRE SPINE.MY CHOICE--WOULD BE THE FINAL FRONTIER OVER THE WOODLAW DUE TO ITS LONGER HANDLE!! AND NOW...LET'S HEAR IT FOR ROCKY J SQUIRRELL----Let's try the Woodlaw f MAIN PAPER CUTTING FUN event:( DRUM ROLL PLEASE!!)I will attempt to cut paper starting at the upper edge of the paper. BUT INSTEAD OF CUTTING THE PAPER STRAIGHT DOWN----LET'S USE UTUBER: virtouo voice's VIDEO'S SHOW A UNIQUE PAPER CUTTING TEST. This paper cutting method involves: CUTTING AN: "S" SHAPE WHILE CUTTING THE PAPER!! THE IDEA IS THAT THE KNIFE SHOULD BE SO SHARP THAT YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO CUT THE PAPER EDGE CLEANLY AND DESPITE SHARP ANGLES!!!ANY SLICING HESITATIONS WILL REVEAL SOME MICRO BEVEL EDGE BURRS ON OF MOST KNIVES! VIRTOUO VOICE USES FOR HUNTING. VIRTUO VOICE USES A MICROSCOPE TO SHOW WHERE THE ERRORS ON ANY BLADE HE USES. Any knife can be sharp BUT are they REALLY AS SHARP AS THEY WERE MEANT TO BE??FACTORY EDGE: HOW SHARP WAS THE CONDOR WOODLAW KNIFE 4inch?MY TEST RESULTS: :Although the CONDOR WOODLAW factory blade was FAIRLY SHARP--- it was ONLY able to cut PAPER INTO SMALL SLICES; it was unable to complete this "S" cutting test.Maybe my technique was off; but I think that factory KNIFE edges as a standard need ALWAYS NEED some personal TLC before you can really say:THIS IS MY KNIFE!THE CONDOR WOODLAW SHEALTH:EXTERIOR: TOP GRADE EVENLY STITCHED BLACK LEATHER!!The BLACK sheath came with a regular sized pants belt loop. The Condor WOODLAW Sheath loop may not fit a regular gun waist belt; due to its small size. But; you can mod it by using a Ranger band and change the sheath into a dangler. OR; you can have a custom Kydex made for it.for now; I WOULD RATE THE CONDOR WOODLAW AT 2 1/2 STARS. Maybe in the near future; I'll try to buy another WOODlaw knife to give it a proper rating. DON"T FORGET TO ALWAYS USE A LIGHT RUST PROOFING OIL ON THE BLADE TO PREVENT CARBON STEEL CORROSION!!Thank You all for taking the time to read my review.I hope that my verified AMAZON purchase opinion helped you in any small way to make this purchase!Sincerely;Tony Tirado

Simple and Adaptive
I like that it is just a blade + handle. The extras are not a set back for its use. Thumb jimping, finger choil, moulded handle, are extras. Simple Works Just Fine. There's the handle and there is the blade don't grab the blade! The Micarta handle has excellent grip even when chain saw oil spilled on it! This 'simple' is NOT an extra. So should a heavier task be required use gloves. You should have them around by all your tools anyway when out of doors. Also the longer and straight handle gives more choices to your grips. Your hands do the moulding not the handle. So, if required add a rag. Split the end of the rag tie a knot if your task needs a moulding for comfort. That Micarta has a grip remember?

Rundum ein sehr schönes Messer, was tatsächlich zum Benutzen einlädt. Meine Empfehlung.
Ein brauchbares Messer, was sehr scharf daher kommt.
