does this usb-c work for a macbook air 2011 model that supposedly has a the thunderbolt , or usb-3 ????

This drive comes with two cables - one USB-C to USB-C and the other USB-C to USB-A. The MacBook Air will use the USB-C to USB-A cable and it will work fine. Remember that USB-C in this case is only a connector type on the drive but the drive is USB 3. The USB-C connector on the latest Macs and the best PCs are actually Thunderbolt 3 which easily support a USB 3 drive like this one. The cable is what is key, that's why they included both for older and newer computers. Hope this helps.

Not sure what you're asking. I own 3 of these since Jan. 2017. The have performed well, don't overheat. No issues to date. The are quite slim (low height) and seem to be well built.
