Reliable Waterproofing Spray That Extends the Life of Outdoor Gear
The KIWI Camp Dry Water Repellent has become an essential part of my outdoor gear maintenance routine, effectively extending the life and performance of tents, tarps, boots, and various other camping equipment. This spray-on waterproofing treatment delivers reliable protection against moisture while being easy to apply and reasonably priced for the value it provides. The effectiveness of this water repellent is genuinely impressive across a wide range of materials. I've successfully used it on tent fabrics, canvas tarps, nylon backpacks, synthetic jackets, and leather boots with excellent results in every application. After treatment, water beads up and rolls off surfaces rather than soaking in, which keeps gear dry and prevents the weight gain and deterioration that comes from moisture absorption. The spray bottle application method makes treating gear straightforward and relatively quick. The spray nozzle produces a fine, even mist that allows for controlled application without over-saturating any areas. I can treat an entire tent or large tarp in just minutes, and the spray format allows me to reach seams, corners, and difficult angles that would be challenging with brush-on waterproofing treatments. The drying time is reasonable and the treatment doesn't leave any sticky residue or significantly alter the texture of treated materials. After allowing treated items to dry completely according to the instructions, they feel natural and move normally without the stiffness or tackiness that some waterproofing treatments create. This means I can use my gear immediately after treatment without any break-in period or discomfort. The longevity of the waterproof barrier is solid, providing protection through multiple uses and exposures to rain before requiring reapplication. My tent maintained excellent water resistance through an entire camping season of weekend trips before I noticed any reduction in performance. This durability means one bottle goes a long way and provides excellent value compared to constantly replacing gear that has lost its water resistance.

Works but...
Smells terrible and takes forever for fumes to go away, I was outside and had to leave my tent and coat hanging for two days to get rid of smell and even after when I brought it in and put it in the closet, it would smell every time I opened the closet. Hard to be sure you got an even coat. I ended up having to spray my tent with water, take pictures of where the water soaked in, wait until it dried and then respray the areas. I also used this on an old Carhart raincoat with same results. In the end... did it do what is intended yes, my tent and raincoat are now waterproofed. Pro - results as promised. Big time Con... smell and off gassing... DO NOT SPRAY IT INDOORS (I was outside and the fumes were insane) and make sure any item you have sprayed has had a few days to sit outside or in your garage before you even think of bringing them inside or you will smell it for weeks (medical side note: it gave me a lovely headache from the vapors). Another Con - it may take a few coats to get full waterproof protection and for a larger tent more than one to two cans. I used 1 and 1/2 cans to do a small two person tent and a raincoat. You may also have to wet the item after full cure on first coating to check for missed spots, take pictures or mark it in some way and then let it dry to spray the missed area.

Repelled water like a champ
I used this on my tent before I went camping in the Smokies and it worked like a charm. I sprayed all the seams first and then sprayed down the walls - all on the outside of the tent. It rained 2 days and I got no water at all inside my tent. Water beaded up and ran down without seeping through. I would highly recommend spraying your tent on a hot sunny day when you can set it up ahead of time and then let it air out because this does have a very loud smell sort of like nail polish remover. That smell wears off after its had a chance to dry though. Definitely 5 stars.

Best water repellent spray I've ever used.
I've been using this stuff since the early 1990s when I was an infantryman in the US Army. I have used it on leather and fabric boots and shoes from combat and hiking boots to everyday shoes. I use it on all backpacks and work bags (nylon messenger bags), as well as leather and fabric gloves. Suede and smooth leather, nylon, polyester, and even cotton with enough coats. I use it on ball caps, and my outdoor wide brim hats. And jackets of course. Whether Gore-Tex (R) or other waterproof breathable liner or not, this helps tremendously. With jackets, gloves or boots that have a waterproof breathable lining this helps by reducing the complete soaking of the outer layer that blocks breathability. It will happen after enough hours, but it extends the time before the material is wet. The only thing this doesn't do as well as other products is to increase stain resistance like the Camp Dry polymer spray (and a few others) does. It does cause many lighter materials to darken, especially lighter leathers, so that might be an issue for some.

Works Well.
I Waterproof two power circular saw bags. One was a Makita and the other was a Porter Cable. Because of the strong odor I sprayed both of them outdoors. One bag I was able to complete two heavy coats While on the second bag I was only able to put one coat down. In both bags, I kept the circular saw in them and the bags zipped closed so that they would retain their shape. making it easier to spray them. The bag with two coats I put in my workshop while leaving the other bag with one coat out So I could apply the second code to it, Need list to say, I got distracted doing other tasks and left it out overnight. And of course, it rained hard!! Fortunately, one heavy coat was sufficient as the inside of the bag was completely dry when opened in the morning!! Upon seeing thi ordered two additional cans even though It is more expensive than similar brands.
