Deluxe Utility Weight Bench for Home Gym Weightlifting and Strength Training

Updated review follows: After using FID benches for years, I decided to move to a flat bench. The first one I got was okay, but after a couple years, I wanted something that had a wider pad. I bought one that we returned, and the same night we returned it, I ordered this one, the Steelbody Deluxe Versatile Rated 800 lbs Flat Utility Workout Bench. I'll be honest. I've owned many benches including a few pieces of Marcy fitness equipment, and they're okay considering price and size, but when I saw that Steelbody ws an Impex/Marcy brand, I had a moment of concern. Still, the reviews were enthusiastic, and the bench looked like exactly what I was looking for, so I thought "Why not?" This bench ticked every box on my list. Our workout area isn't large, so we wanted something not too long, and the pad on this bench is 43", but it's wider than most, which I very much prefer. And it's wider on one end than the other, which makes it more versatile. The pad is firm but has some give on the top, and the cover is fairly thick with some texture. Everything metal is strong and sturdy, and the rubber feet stick to our hardwood floor well. The handle is also well-placed and the wheels work well. And it was easy to build. It has no smell of any kind. In fact, so far this Steelbody Deluxe Flat Utility Workout Bench is exactly what I was looking for. It's comfortable, sturdy and stable, and it's easy to roll to a corner, closet or the side of the room. One side of the pad is 12" wide, the other is 15" wide, and that leads me to one more thing I really appreciate - the description and measurements of the bench are accurate. This is a big thing, as most benches I've tried make inaccurate claims, exaggerate or leave things out of their descriptions. I've been through a number of benches, mostly more expensive than this one, but this one really delivers on what I was looking for. For those looking for a wider flat bench that's sturdy, stable, comfortable and reasonably priced, this is one I'd recommend. Update: In a mad moment, I decided I wanted an adjustable bench, I got a Rep AB4100, and I sold my Steelbody. After over a year, I decided I didn't need an adjustable bench, gave the Rep to my husband, and I rebought the Steelbody. It sits in front of my cable tower, and I use it several times a week with cables and dumbbells. I sure won't see this one!

This one’s worth all the money I paid for it! I love the robust design and the firm thick padding. It took about 10 minutes to put together. It came undamaged in a very well packed in a thick cardboard box, unlike the last flat bench I ordered (and returned) from Amazon. I highly recommend buying this product.

Very sturdy and easy to put together. Cushion is very comfortable and bench is at a perfect height. The other basic workout benches were a little to tall. Another plus us getting while it was on sale for $99

A few eons from now when some random galactic explorers discover the remnants of our earthly 'civilization' they will probably find a whole bunch of these excellent Steelbody weight benches still in rock-solid pristine condition. Very likely they will gather up as many as they can and transport them back to their native galaxies for use as the centerpiece in their home gymnasiums. Beautiful, built like a tank, EASY assembly (okay, a 17mm socket ratchet or wrench is useful) rolls effortlessly where ever you need it (stands up nicely out of the way when you don't need it) classy and stylish labels & logos. Wide enough, long enough, strong enough, stable enough for any legitimate workout application. And best of all, none of the if's and's or 'but's other customers whine about in the reviews of all the cheaper (yes) but otherwise inferior benches being sold on this site. Do yourself a big favor and get this one!

In terms of build quality, yes, this is on par with the ones at the gym. It is sturdy and wobble free. I'd like the wheels to be a little better. I didn't think I'd use them, but it's a great feature, but I have to add, this was SO easy to build! There's only six parts, and the wrench you need is included with the bolts. 15 minutes max to assemble. I'm taking one star off for the length, or lack thereof. For the money, ( three TIMES the price of other marcy benches -oh, yes, this is made by marcy and is waaaaaay better than their usual line. ) it could easily have been a few inches longer. I'm 6'4", and it JUST works if I place myself in the exact right spot. If I were taller I'd have to send it back. If you are shorter than me, it's five stars - look no further, this is THE bench to have!

Incredibly SOLID bench! The cushion is great and is supportive, high quality and durable. The bench isn’t wobbly and is pretty much a solid rock. The thing that I really underestimated are the wheels. I thought it was some gimmicky thing that wouldn’t be of any use and just be in the way...BOY WAS I WRONG! They are a total game changer! They are in the exact location to balance the bench perfectly when you go to move it, so much that it is feather light! The engineers really did their work with them! You can even set the bench on the wheels end, when your not using it, and it stays there completely supported and not wobbles or anything. I wish all of my other equipment had wheels on them now.! I’ve bought a another bench prior to this one for almost as much money and it’s a POS that’s wobbly w a horrid cushion. I should’ve spent the little extra from the beginning and got this one cause now it cost me almost twice as much, cause I bought that one, then this one. This bench is well worth the investment!

I have used flat benches at my health club for years. Recently I decided to save some money and purchase exercise equipment for home use. I studied all the various makes and models and took a chance on this Steelbody Flat Bench. For it's very reasonable price I was not expecting much, especially with my experience only with commercial grade items at the gym. Fortunately this product exceeded my expectations. It is rock solid and light weight at the same time! The engineering is excellent -- it has actual rubber feet on all for of its legs provide not a hint of instability and the narrow head of the bench itself is very ergonomic for doing fly's and presses. Because of its light weight it can easily be put up anywhere when not in use if space is a issue. The bench is covered in what appears to be a breathable heavy duty fabric which appears flexible and shouldn't tear like your standard vinyl covers. Very Pleased with this product!

Exactly what I was looking for. This thing is SOLID and the wider part is comfortable. Assembly was a breeze and it's very sturdy, doesn't rock at all. Cover material feels heavy duty and should last a long time. Very Satisfied with my purchase and glad I didn't get a cheaper flimsy one.

I bought this gym bench since I wanted a cheap alternative for nordic curl. Overall, I like the steel-based frame. But the base of the padding that serves as an interface between the padding the frame did not seem to be strong. I felt that the ones in a standard gym is better.

I liked the simplicity of assembly, quality of the product, the fit and finish, and the stability. The two widths give you more options, the bench is light and can be moved by most while having the robustness of a heavier bench. Of note, it stands on end where the wheels are without wobble. Well designed and much more expensive benches do not work like this. Also unlike other benches it isn't a tank to move about but has the strength of a tank. A keeper.

Bench in box doesn't feel too heavy but tell you what... Its a tank.. very solid feeling bench. Easy to read instructions that actually make sense. Assembly is a total of 4 screw bolts and washers with 6 screws for seat with washers. 15mins tops. Really happy with the bench . Time will tell how it holds up. Really surprised at quality for price! Steel body did a great job with it.
