It is a great idea. Thank-you David Hall
The Gimli Glider is a piece of aviation history. Yes, it was first advertised at $35 a couple years ago, but speaking with the company spokesperson, Kitty, about the difference she explained that the supply is limited and over 5000 were sold the first year from collectors all over the world. The one I purchased has a stamped # 6129. There is only 10,000 that can be made from amount of the skin of the tail section, therefore the luggage tags are becoming a limited supply. It is a great idea. Thank-you David Hall, the founder. His California company has some very interesting furniture made from various parts of air planes from the Desert graveyard in addition to over 10 different other souvenir tags from retired aircraft. Yes, some are other cheaper tags but some are very-very expensive too. The photos on their web site show them cutting the skin from Boeing #604 which is the retired "Gimli Glider". I have purchased three additional tags from the company at a higher price but it does include personal engraving. If you just want a Boeing 767 tag, Amazon sells them for under $10 too, but they are not #604.

Far too expensive for what it is
These were originally $35 each - and still overpriced. Then, the company pumped up the advertising, and past the additional costs on to the buyer. No thanks!
