This is beautiful paper, handmade. I use gel pens to write in it, but ball point pens should work. It is a soft, kind of rough paper, so it isn't exactly a smooth write. However, if you are looking for a unique alternative to deforestation, this is a great product. Very pretty beautiful and one of a kind. The only negative would be the edges of each page are a little rough. You need to make sure to allow room for a slight variation in page size, or you might ne writing on the next page if you get too close to an edge. In addition since it is hand bound, it does not lay flat without. It is not a complaint for me; I absolutely love this journal and would buy another to help support the artisans who make this.

The book looks very antique and unique. Best journal I've had so far. The only downfall which does not remove a star is that the pages are a bit too thin. Despite this fact the page thickness still varies as it is handmade. Definitely too thin for watercolor but still fine with a pen. Just be careful near the edges because it gets thinner. Overall, book is great just don't press hard with the pen and the pages are fine.

It’s a cute little journal. I did not see measurements when I ordered and it is tiny, not normal size for a journal. Would not have ordered if I had known how small it was. It is also not easy to write in.

It’s a really great product! It looks as if it could be heavier but when I picked it up it was surprisingly light. I love the pages - it’s exactly what I wanted. I wanted a vintage looking notebook to practice my calligraphy and so far this works for me. Glad to support the people behind this initiative!

This is the smallest one, and it is very unique looking. The entire book feels like your holding a piece of paper. The texture of the pages caught me off gaurd at first (feels like fabric) but it does add to the charm.

It is shipped eco-friendly, which is not enough to protect the journal from damage. Even the hardback binder was bent in several places. The pages are bent or crushed in several places. However, I love the paper. I have bought several categories of this paper over the years. It is wonderful.

This is an absolutely beautiful book! The binding is tight. The pages are natural and raw in the edge. The cover is rich in its coloring. Our daughter was doing a science fair project about synthetic dyes and the effects they can have on the environment. She used this book (though a little more pricey than a wire bound notebook) to show her findings. The relevance of this fabrication process was not lost on her or the judges. I am very pleased with this product and would like to purchase one for myself now.

Excellent product. I didn't give the star number five becacause It is being sold as a purely sustainable product but I received it in a plastic bag.
