Is as advertised
This was the third one that I bought and the only one that would work with my old hard drive. I returned the other two (from two other vendors) that were not as advertised and did not fit a 3.5" IDE drive. This one works just fine.

Works as long as your drive still does
The adapter works as advertised. Got access to 3 of 5 old drives, 2 were no longer functioning. I verified this by connecting them to an old PC. The access time even on a very old drive was reasonably fast on a USB 3.2 port. I was even able to install and run Linux Mint on one of them and it seamed faster than the older PC's access time. I like that the wires in the 4 pin molex power connector have been epoxied or glued in place it provides a much sturdier feel to to the plug. I also like that the USB cable is removable. Though the selection to use a 2 sided USB A type cord leaves me scratching my head. Why in 2024 is this being sold without a USB C port, and I think this is my only issue with this USB to IDE, 2.5 IDE, and SATA connector. The USB C cord is about 3-feet or one meter. It feels of a reasonable quality. And the additional power supply wall wart has about 6-feet or two meter of cord. And has an output of 12 volts at 3000ma, Though the issue with IDE drives are different jumper settings that may need to be set or changed. This device or any other one cannot magically make a old broken drive, or one with the jumpers not set properly work.

All the hard drives can be read
I've got some old 3.5 inch IDE hard drives and SATA 3.5 inch hard drives from old potato computers, and this reader was able to read all of them without issues. It also works with 2.5 inch SATA SSD. It is plug and play. Other than a power outlet and an USB port on a computer, you don't need anything else since there is no driver to install

Good product with trash instructions
Great product with absolute trash instruction booklet. Had to basically figure it out by myself, due to the like 21 page booklet having only 3 in English and only one with actual usage instructions that only cover like 2 things out of dozens, oddly not any of the more common type things one would need it for.0

Technology at its best!
Im an old computer person & always had used hard drives laying around & having to hook up or un hook the hard drives to a pc in order to read what was on the hard drive. Real pain in the neck. Came across some old pc hard drives with no idea what was on them & didn't want to drag out the old pc just to see what stuff was on them so...thought hey maybe technology has improved in this specific field. My go to is always amazon for ideas like this & i was blown away seriously by the products available to complete something in minutes that used to take a half hour to accomplish! Great tech leap & very inexpensive & easy to obtain peice of equipment.

Allowed me to rescue data off old drives.
I plugged this into some of my old IDE drives and tada, got my data. The SATA connection works great as well. I have both Linux and Windows, and haven't had any issues with either one. I have even used this to rescue data from some clients machines. Definitely recommend if you have some IDE devices that you need data from.

Works also for optical drives, unlike other cheaper products.
Works as intended. I own other cheaper SATA to USB adapters, but they only work for HDDs or SSDs, and do not work at all for optical drives. I’ve used this product on various BD/DVD/CD drives as well as SATA and IDE HDDs, and it worked perfectly.

Very versatile, but capped at ~200 MB/s
Item works well and is versatile with connecting to various types of drives. Only issue is that the speed caps about around 200 MB/s, so fully testing Sata 3 SSD speeds is not doable on this.
