Q: Do these have any sort of odor like some of the other similar products? I want to use them for clothes...

I haven't noticed any odor. They smell like baskets. But they aren't really big for clothes though. The biggest one would be ideal for undergarments and that's about it. I use the smaller ones for makeup and to hold my coffees in the kitchen.

Q: Do the lids stay open on their own or do I need to prop them against something? Using set for a welcome table at an event in about a month, thank you!

The lids do not stay open. You will need to use something to keep them open.

Q: With the largest fit a board game? Looking for a pretty way to 'hide' all of our board games..

That's a great idea for their use, but of course it depends on the sizes of your board game boxes. Even if used for only display/decor purposes, these are really nice! They arrive "nested" in each other so the delivery box is the size of the largest lidded basket. Site page says, "Set of 3 baskets measuring 11" x 8" x 4.5" (small), 13" x 9.5" x 6" (medium) and 14" x 11" x 7" (large)." Hope this helps.

Q: I want to know can you paint these baskets?

I don't see why not. They're wicker. As long as you use a paint that will work well on wicker, it shouldn't be a problem.
