Internet of Things with ESP8266

Save your money. The book is full of errors. For example, on page 10: image that is supposed to be there isn't there. Page 30: the code shows there is supposed to be an integer variable, but the actual variable is a floating point variable. Page 44: connecting via aREST.io to ESP8266 via MQTT doesn't work, and there is no way to figure out why it doesn't work. Some feedback along the way would help with the debugging. The author uses several ESP8266 chips throughout the book. The pin numbering for different chips is different. Somehow, the reader is supposed to figure out the pin numbering for the chip he or she has to get the code to work. A table of corresponding pins for different chips would help.

The book took 6 weeks to be delivered (supposedly from New Jersey). When it arrived I found printing on the cover had been blacked out. The printing said "For sale in India only"....which may account for the slow shipping. Otherwise, it's one of the better books I've collected on the subject.

Husband loves the book

Few months ago I was under the impression that controlling stuff from my house over the Internet is very hard to accomplish, but I've discovered the ESP8266 and this book so, in matter of hours following the examples I was able not only to control them but also to be notified on their state change and see history of the events. It was a pleasure reading this book and I've learned something from each chapter. Now, only the sky is the limit on what I can control. Happy coding!

Useful to get you started, but not in-depth enough to address real issues or problems with the ESP2866.

As a beginner with this module, it was good to have a book that took nothing for granted. Things are explained very clearly, and there does seem to be any danger of not getting the examples to work. The only complaint was some of the drawings; I like a schematic and there were not that many of them. That is a minor point, however. I really liked this book. Very useful.

Ce bouquin est très vieux, beaucoup d'exemples de services n'existent plus ou ont été renommés.Il se base essentiellement sur des services extérieurs qui ne sont pas forcement pérennes.Il y a pas mal d'erreurs dans les codes comme le mauvais typage des variables ce qui est inadmissible pour un livre de cette catégorie.Il manque également des illustrations et les modules ESP8266 utilisés par l'auteur sont quasi introuvables.J'ai renvoyé ce livre.

Muito dependente de indicação para cadastro na nuvem para funcionar os projetos iot propostos. Esperava projetos mais autosuficientes sem a necessidade de logar-se em qualquer site indicado pelo livro.
