Good for Elderly or Disabled
Can't comment on the reliability since I just got it. I just wanted to point out there are a couple styles of similar products and many sellers of each. For individuals with reduced hand function, the remote on this unit has better ergonomics than the ones included with the popular "E..." brand. The buttons are more clearly labeled, set farther apart, protrude a little more, and the square shape is easier to feel under your finger. The disabled user in our house has a much easier time with this one. Also, this is one of the few that has buttons for only one outlet (other than the ones with keyfob sized remotes). Sometimes less is better.

Very handy
I love these things. I have two lamps where the switches are on the electric wire which means you stomp on a button with your foot to turn them on and off. I love the lamps except for the inconvenience of turning them on and off. I have another light that I now can control from my bed. Plus, I rigged a fan to turn on and off from my living room chair as I need it. With the remotes, it makes everything so much easier. I highly recommend these. The only negative thing I can say is that the plug-in units are rather large and take up extra space at the plug outlets. Make sure your wall outlets or power strip will be able to accommodate the plug-in.

PERFECT for an April Fools Day Prank!
I had seen a prank for teachers where you put a sign in front of the pencil sharpener that says 'Now voice operated! Say ''banana" to sharpen!' Now, I knew my students were not gullible enough and would try it anyways, ruining the trick, so I thought one step further. I purchased this switch so i could turn the sharpener on and off when students tried to use it. In fact, we found that teachers had much better luck getting the sharpener to work than students, and that some students just weren't saying 'bananas' quite loud enough ;) My kids were quite shocked to learn that I was controlling the power to the sharpener all along! Absolutely worth the money! It worked every time and had no issues! I look forward to using it again next year!

A great convenience!
I wanted to remotely control a window fan, plus two ceiling fans. The window fan and one ceiling fan were in a bedroom and both necessitated physically turning them on and off, not so bad for the ceiling fan, but for the window fan (which is used to bring in air at night but not run all night) it meant having to get out of bed to turn it off. This allows me to turn both fans on or off remotely. The other fan is in the family room but this fan a Hunter is a bit difficult to turn on and off - feels like the pull might break, so the ability to turn it on and off remotely is a blessing. Now I have to find uses for the other two :-)UPDATEEvery now and then the ceiling fan will go off, not sure why, I don't know if it's picking up the signal from the other remote which is in another room or if it's something else. UPDATE 2 - it is picking up the other remote from about 50' away! It turned off tonight and I went and checked and the ceiling fan in the family room had just been turned off! This is quite remarkable since there are intervening block and steel cement filled walls.UPDATE Dec 7, 2018 (bought in Apr 2017)Still works well, I bought an Etekcity set for my Mom and one of the remotes has gone bad already. These are both working. I suppose I should re-program the remote for the ceiling fan so that when the other fan is turned on or off it doesn't affect my fan, but I'm too lazy (smile). I might buy one of these for my Mom instead.

Simple On/Off via Infrared
This is a nice setup - the on/off switch is simple and easy to use. You simply plug something into the outlet and you can turn it on and off.I am using this with a set of LED lights that were buzzing when I tried a more sophisticated electronic switch (LUTRON). You can hear the relay clicking a bit when you turn the switch on and off, but that's why it works well for LED lights. There is one pretty serious drawback -- this is a "Line Of Sight" Infrared switch. This means you must have an unobstructed view from the plug to the switch. For instance, you cannot place the switch in a different room than the plug. For my application this is just fine, but if you need control through walls or over a longer distance, look for an radio (non-IR) switch/plug.Pros:- simple to use and set up- "decent" response time (not instant, bu close)Cons:- Switch must be in the same proximity as the plug with no intervening walls or furniture- No dimming

Senior Citizen Friendly
I've been working with my neighbor's TV setup. They are both in their 80's, so they have not got very much hands on experience with electronics. In fact, the whole idea of cable, internet and bluray really scares them. For one of the components on their TV system, I had to install a remote wireless outlet switch. I personally have used them before. But the majority of those on the market always seem to have more buttons on the remote than is necessary. I came across the simple model by Goronya. It was a perfect fit for my elderly friends. It has two buttons - on and off. Why, it could not be any simpler for them to understand and use. The wireless remote seems somewhat thin, but it has performed flawlessley. The price was competitive. I think I am now a believer and will be buying this model in the future. I can easily recommend this product to you.

The remote has a very long range
The main unit (outlet part) is very well built and operates quietly. The remote has a very long range, 50 feet possibly more and looks plain but the two distinct on off buttons is a great design feature. Simply pressing the off (or on) button few times will guarantee the device plugged into the wireless outlet is off (or on), even from far away. There is no need to check. Cheaper wireless outlets have a single button that toggles on-off and you never know if it is on or off without checking. This product is recommended for its long range and positive logic operation.

Range is horrible...
I received this and plugged it in. It works... however, the range in multiple locations seems to be horrible. 3 feet is the maximum range. I replaced the CR2025 battery it came with for another battery and the issue persists. So it technically works... unfortunately, the whole point is to have a remote to be able to turn something on without needing to get right up close to it. Not impressed.

Runs my dust collector well
I love this for turning on my dust collector.BBBBUT - I wish you could buy additional remotes - I have 6 tools using ONE dust collector - HOW great would it be to have one remote on EACH?
