Bokashi Kitchen Composter - Set of Two, Includes Masher, Strainer, Cup for Compost Tea, and Detailed Instructions.

Since I live in an apartment in los angeles, and my building doesn't offer a separate dumpster for disposing of organic waste, I wanted to find a way to do in home composting that wouldn't smell or make my neighbors complain. After reaching the Bokashi method, i decided to get the two airtight bins and compost starter. This works PERFECTLY!It does take just a small amount of assembly to attach the nozzles and gaskets on the bottom of each bin. After that, you're good to start using it.The key is to ensure very little air gets in contact with your kitchen scraps, and to press it down firmly to ensure no air pockets between your food. Sprinkle a handful+ of the compost starter each time you throw food in the bin, and in a few days, you also have compost tea - which I use to water my plants, and also put down the drain to avoid clogs, etc.I will say that only one of the bins works properly to keep out the smell and the other doesn't - I believe one of the valves at the bottom is faulty that allows some smell to escape until it begins to fill with 'tea' at the bottom.

Had been using it quite a bit, but the lids are so tight. It’s hard to get them back open to put more product in.

Great product. Good, sturdy and well made. Only difficulty I had was with attaching the outlets for Bokashi tea. Because of the tight space on the inner side it was a little hard to tighten the nut properly. My shipment didn't come with a bag of Bokashi barn. I contacted the seller and I got a response real fast. They shipped a bag of bran immediately. I'm writing this review and giving the five star rating because of that experience with their customer care.

The bins are made well. I checked the "free bran" option and it was never sent.

I've been using this composter for a few months now and it's been working great! No smell in the kitchen (although I would encourage folks to maybe take it outside when it's time to drain, that liquid gold is mighty pungent). But otherwise it's helped keep me on task with composting and is so much more convenient than the 50/50 method, at least for me. Plus the customer service has been impeccable! Absolutely recommend.

No bokashi Bran in with bins. Could not find way to advise about shortage except to return product. Bins are fine but would like the bokashi Bran sent to me.

Both bins leaks juice from the spout. Which pretty much makes it horrible to use. Definitely have to leave it outside. In another review I also complained that the free bokashi it came with was opened and had a very foul odor. This whole system is meant to be used indoors btw! Would not recommend this company, products are made in china.

Using this system, you do not have to worry about any nasty smells, fruit flies or separating any food waste! ( even composted shrimp hulls perfectly with no nasty smell. Love, love this system. Very durable as well & easy to use. Worth every penny.
