Q: Can this vise be adjusted so it doesn't "lift" up when using parallels to hold a flat piece? I have a vise now that does that and it is aggravating

let me know if you find one that works and doesnt break the bank,,, im thinking the only one that MIGHT work is the Vise for the Sherline mini Milling machines... sometimes they are on Ebay for about $50.00 bucks or so. i have a vise from my Unimat3 and it does the same thing you are talking about, the jaws push up and the part is held crooked.

Q: Compatible with Unimat SL 1000?

My use is with a jeweler's drill press to make polished stone necklaces. Petosky petrified coral pebbles are very desirable for my customers.

Q: would this hold wine corks to drill center 3/4 inch without marking the outside of corks??

Hey there! The jaws are machine metal not plastic. The v you see in the one side of the jaw, does have sharp edges, but is machined quite nice and the vise itself is well worth the money. You could however place a cloth in the jaws, then the cork. Maybe that will stop marking. But the vise is a nice little unit. I use mine for R/C building cutting, holding, or even reshaping parts.

Q: What are the dimensions? I see two different dimensions given in the description of this vise: 6.5x4x2.5 inches and I also see 4.25x2.375x1.25 inches.
