Incredible. Very happy. Increase stopping power and overall control.
Two areas people skimp? Brakes and tires. Think about it people. You expect to receive tires. These seem more than tires when you get them. I cant explain it, but it was like unboxing my bikes newest safety features. They look glorious. Very good looking tires.Your tires are the only thing connecting you to the ground. Go ahead and upgrade your suspension all you want, if your tires are weak, you are exposing yourself to risk.Overall, I believe these tires are a fabulous all mountain tire with competency in just about every area. Excellent climbers. I am running 2.4's front and rear on a custom hard tail that I rally up and down.I am mostly so Utah but just finished northern Utah trails (rock on fine dust, lots of roots) 5 stars.Excellent downhill competency for its weight and other strengths.Had no problems putting them on my Shimano MT15 wheels using my skewer flap on the trail after snapping a presta valve mid ride. Good fit and finish.Roll smoothly on asphalt and really were incredible on the trail. Most shocking was increase in braking stability and overall confidence. I prefer tubes and REALLY enjoy the continental uni-tube's. Recommend them as well.Highly recommend. I will update this post.

bought this and no product support from Conti
This was on my shelf waiting to be installed and when I did, it was too small to fit on the rim. I know all the tricks for fitting tires and couldn't get it on and I don't think I could ever fix a flat on the trail with how tight it would have been if I succeeded.I contacted Conti for advise and got no response at all. Apparently a bad company to work with.As a contrast I had a Schwalbe that I had on the shelf and within 5 rides it was missing knobs. one photo and they replaced the tire, no questions asked. much better on them!

Do Not Buy for Arizona Trails! Destroyed in 5 rides!
In a nutshell, disappointing. See photo.I ride in Tucson, Az.The Pro's: If you are in light pack/mud and dirt trails (Durango, CO), the tire does great. I was happy with the grip/traction on my 3 rides there. The Con's: Riding in Arizona eats this tire up. I have been on the trail a total of 6 times and the tires are already shredded...worse that my basic tires that I have had for 2 years! Nobs are torn off down to the tread and a lot of them or just hanging by a thread. I thought that perhaps it was just a bad tire, but my friend who got his a few weeks before me has the same problem! That is basically $8 a ride!I have enjoyed Continental's road tires, but I will go back to MAXXIS for my mtn bike tires.Fortunately, as a long time Amazon.com customer, Amazon is taking care of me. I am trying the MAXXIS High Roller 2 DC next!

Great traction, tough to seal.
Wow, I don't even know where to begin, so lets just say these tires hook up great. It was getting summer here so I put a new set of fast rolling Ardents on my bike thinking it would be dry for a few months...was I wrong, Its been storm after storm and the Ardents are terrible on greasy roots and rocks (as a side note, in the past year I have tried a half dozen tires on 3 different bikes and all riding conditions, so not just comparing to Ardents here). So I am lured in by this black chili stuff, sounds great and I like the knob pattern, and indeed, it stocks very well over the greasy rocks and roots, much better than the Ardents. There is this one rock I remember on a local trail that is really off camber and you hit if after a muddy spot, the Ardent slid right off, this thing stuck right to it. Also it is a HUGE tire for its size, rated the same as my Ardent 2.4, but barely clears my fork, and the Ardent had plenty of room.OK, thats the good, now the bad. I am cocky, I think they don't make a tire that I can't seat tubeless, even made special tools to do it, but boy I thought the Germans were going to win this one. I had to build up the rim with foam in order to make the magic work. It wasn't easy, and took 2 layers of foam and about 3 tries, but it finally happened. Then the sidewalls were leaking like crazy, ug, but I just put my faith in the Trucker sealant and it stopped after a minute. I came away covered in latex, ripped the hair off my leg trying to get it off!. 5 stars for traction, 1 for difficulty to mount, but I really like it, so I am going to go with 4. Also I am tough on sidewalls (big guy, ride in the rocks), I will report back if I rip it open.

Big and grippy
These are big tires. Took them to Tahoe for some technical rides with a combination of hard rocks and loose dirt. The tires were outstanding. They really hooked up well on the loose dirt and held up great with a major beating on the rocks. I did have one pinch flat when running about 30 psi and dropping a couple of feet onto a sharp edge of granite at about 15 mph. No damage to the tire, just the hassle of replacing the tube while riders I've been passing catch up.

Rolls fast but rips at rim
I really wanted this tire to work. I have purchased 3 in a row. First the reasons I love it. It rolls very smooth and fast. Fastest roller I've found. Tracks well and pressure changes are felt throughout the range. I'm an older guy and ride mellow cross county. The 1st of the 3 tires worked great. Rode the tire until I wore it out, got approx 300 miles out of it. The 2nd tire ripped right at the rim bead. Tire had about 100 miles on it. I figured hit something and ordered the 3rd tire. The 3rd, ripped in the exact same fashion after 50 miles. The tires are unrepairable, so a $70 tire is trash after 2 rides. Really bummed, because this tire is so much lighter and faster than any other.

Amazing Enduro - All Mountain - Light Gravity Tire
I purchased two of these to run on my 2011 Trance X 26er. I was looking for a extremely large volume tire to run tubeless on 26mm wide rims, with a wide tread pattern, that is ideal for loose rocky areas. This tire has blown my mind. I had a bit of trouble seating it tubeless on the rim, but once I did, I never had another issue. The traction in loose rocky areas is fantastic. It also does good on dirt trails as the tread is not super tall like a Maxxis DHF.The Protection Sidewalls have taken some huge hits on sharp rocks and have held up very well. If you are looking for a big burly all mountain tire that isn't extremely heavy, this is your tire. It's true width on a 26mm wide rim is 2.37, but it is very tall so you get huge volume.
