Good Leaf Collector. Don't bother trying to collect grass.
This is a good leaf collector, although it requires some effort, patience, and understanding.I have a lawnmower which collects the grass, and that is quite capable of collecting leaves as well. However, the twigs and thick leaf stems blunt the lawnmower blade, and it is noisy. This achieves the job well, and it is quiet. It needs to be assembled from its parts, which takes about 30 minutes, maybe more if you are not so familiar with doing such things. The business end of the collector, are hundreds of thin blue tines, which spin as you push the collector along. The height of the collecting tines is adjustable, and in fact is very important to the success of using it. You will need to experiment for a while to find the perfect height setting for your scenario. Larger leaves and taller grass need a slightly higher setting, and smaller leaves or shorter grass need a lower setting. The lower the setting, the more the tines scrape on the grass, and the harder you will need to push. If you are going to pick up leaves from your drive (tiles or concrete), then you should use an even lower setting. I made a note of all the various height settings I use for each scenario, since I am unlikely to remember the specifics after a gap of a year.Larger leaves are more likely to be grasped and collected. Smaller leaves have lesser success, as they sink into the grass layer more, and don't always get picked up. If your garden has humps and hollows in the level, then leaves in the hollows will likely escape being collected, as they will be missed by the tines. I'm not sure why they call this a grass collector, as it is pretty poor at that job... In my opinion, don't try collecting grass. It is actually quite good at collecting the leaves. I would say in my garden that more than 95% of the leaves are collected on the first pass. 99% of the leaves are collected on the 2nd or 3rd passes, and the ones which are left are the ones which were going to be very difficult for the machine to collect anyway... the ones which have sunk deep into the grass layer or which are in a hollow in your lawn.If you look at the photo of my garden, mid-collection, you will see a good level of success. The left side of the garden was initially done with a single sweep, and then an additional couple of sweeps were needed to pick up the initially missed leaves.Note that the collector cannot be used to collect leaves right up to the fence. There is about 8.5cm between the edge of the wheels and the start of the outer tines, so on each side there is a gap where leaves will not be collected. I usually use a leaf blower to move the leaves away from the fence before starting with the Gardena Leaf Collector. Sometimes if the Gardena misses a single leaf, I will pick that leaf up by hand rather than turning the machine round for a second sweep. The leaf collecting bag is quite generous in size, and usually empties my whole garden of leaves without needing to empty a second time. Finally, it should be noted that the wheels and body of the machine get quite dirty with bits of mud and previously cut blades of grass. I usually give the whole machine a quick hose with water to get rid of all of that stuff before putting it away. It's not electric, so you can get every part of it as wet as you like !! Storage in the shed is easy... You just sit it vertically against the wall.I'm happy with the purchase. I've had it for just over a year now, and nothing has gone wrong. The price was pretty high a year ago, and I'm sorry to say is even more eyewatering now.

Effective leaf collector
Assembly is a little challenging. It's a strange construction, and the tubes are hard to push in the right places- but all doable. And its worth it. Very simple and effective hand machine. Collection bag a good size, sometimes a few passes are required to fully clear. But really good overall . Pity the leaves, especially when damp are so heavy!

Easy for the Sheila’s :-D
I seldom write reviews but had to with this - it’s absolutely fab. I dithered so much over the purchase due to some negative reviews on here but honestly, I’m miffed I took so long to place the order.I’m not altogether sure what/why some reviews are so negative re instructions (scratches head); I’m a 51 year old lassie and had this assembled in less time than it took to drink my tea! The picture instructions are so simple, I’m at a loss as to why some say they needed more information. It’s assembled and works a treat - I have a lovely to look at neighbours for tree which forever drops needles and cones - it had these up in a flash. It’s sturdy, lightweight to manage, quiet and so well thought out, I’m really happy with it.

Excellent lawn sweeper
Very well made tool, feels very solid and the leaf collection bag is actually very effective with a simple attachment for removal. The collector is perhaps a little heavy to lift for storage but it does roll on its wheel’s easily. It does work as well, and collects leaves (best when dry) as well as some nuts that fall into my garden. The tool is very easy to push but you do have to experiment with the height adjustment, which is very easy to alter to suit. This tool makes leaf collecting much easier than using a rake and will also collect the debris that arises when I scarify my lawn - the debris collector is useless and always needs raking afterwards. So this is win / win for me. The price might push some towards a cheaper make but this Gardena tool works very well.

What an amazing machine!!
Really wished id invented this! Works like a dream on the grass to lift all the leaves into the collector. Can be adjusted to the length of grass and works brilliantly on concrete or gravel as well. Its very light and collector can be emptied easily. Can be stored flat and i wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

So much easier than raking
The media could not be loaded. Assembled was ok, rather hard getting the screws in as they didn’t align easily.Although it is a large device it is easy to navigate. I’m 5ft2 and managed easily:1-2 passes required to collect leaves.Good value for money as it speeds up the time it usually takes.

I wish had this years ago.
I had looked at this leaf collector every year, but decided the price was too high for something made from plastic and doubted its usefulness. This year another year older and heading towards 70 faster than I'd care, I needed to solve the problem of clearing up the leaves coming from all sides of the garden. I use an automower, their only failing is they cannot collect leaves, or chop up leaves. I took the chance purchase knowing if it was terrible amazon would take it back. I'm pleased to say, what would have taken me hours to rake by hand is now done in 20 - 30 minutes. Lawn size is 500sqft. Trees around all neighbouring properties, oak, Ash, plum, apple, cherry, Hazel, hawthorn and cherry plum, plus ancient woodland along the road, so when the wind blows, the leaves head here constantly for a meet up. I really do wish I had this yearrs ago. Getting used to the height setting takes a few tries. If it's hard to push, alter the brushes up, it will still do a good job. For dips in the lawn, either alter the brush again, or lower your hands on the pushing handle for the dip. The faster you walk, the more efficient it is, but even plodding along it will still do a very good job. I no longer curse the neighboring trees, this really is a useful implement. It took about 20 minutes to put together, the self tapping screws need a bit of muscle to get them in, the instructions are clear and easy.
