Nice Product Poor Instructions
1986L Corvette, use Gold & Green Seals with both tap on Extensions. Note: The Seals Stick out of Compressor but line up EVEN. Instructions for this product really Poor.

Rock solid.
Dropped in and fit perfectly for 1985 corvette. Wear-in was smooth, noisy at first and tapered off as it settled in. 500 miles into the service life of the ac and no problems. Good part, as one would expect of an ACDELCO.Beware - if you are in a low-elevation area, when loosening the bolt that holds the plastic seal in place, may release sudden blast of compressed air. Alarming if you're not expecting it.

Good price. OE quality.
Brand new and quiet. The original R4 compressor was very susceptible to failure and noisy to boot. The noise has been reduced with slightly redesigned innards. Original equipment may prevent the incidence of failure. Amazon helped with a prompt exchange for a seized part.A retrofitted modern part is an option, but if that is not feasible, the R4 is a pretty good performer. Currently, at more than 100°F ambient temperature, output is 42°F at center vent. This is a good unit for the Valley of the Sun.

installation was pretty much plug and play without any guess work
I bought this compressor for a R134a retrofit on my 85 corvette. since it's a delco service replacement, installation was pretty much plug and play without any guess work. I also purchased the correct accumulator/dryer, again AC Delco. center duct temps around 40° even with the hot florida summer temps. it's been about a year now - no issues.

A bit tricky to install, but can be done.
Works fine once properly flushed and filled with PAG oil and R134 Freon. It seems to take quite a while to absorb the correct amount of R134, even after being fully evacuated, so be patient. Remember to change the expansion valve at the same time and pay attention the the direction it is installed.
